I have an old Ibanez SR-405, and want to get a set of EMG's... I play mostly hardcore metal. I want a clear sound. What would you recommend me? Maybe a 40DC and a 40CS? What about the 40P5? I don't really know the differences between them...

thanks!

I have a bass that has the 35P4 and 35J in it. (4string version) - square standard cases for those who do not have the split-p setup cut into their bass. do they sound better than the standard DC's? nope...totally tonally different than my 35DC's in the other bass.

perhaps you might like the 40TW (used for running single/dual coils with a pushpull pot?).

and for all the specs go to emginc.com

Step aside kids, I believe I have the oldest EMG's here installed in 1976 as soon as they came out on a 1972 Fender Jazz. What's the number situation here whippersnappers!:hiding:

I thought the original ones had the large raised EMG old style logos...oh well, I wouldn't know beings that I've only been using them since 88, what do I know???:p

That would go along with the misconception that EMG's had to be routed to be installed on vintage jazz basses. They fit in stock cavity with a slight bulge. And the logo's were painted, not raised. Old Logo?

Taking a look at Lee Sklar's old P-bass, which has the first generation EMG's, the logos were different, more of a slant. Again though, they were P pickups, maybe they went with the painted emblem J's later (or decided to do both at the same time)....?

Got EMG-BTC on my Warwick Corvette Std. 18-volt of course. Sounds incredible. Digs up the great sound the MECs can't deliver. Went to studio couple of weeks ago and the producer/mixer dude wanted to buy the bass cos it sounds so good :D I'm not too fond of the idea of having 2 more batteries on my bass so I'm probably gonna replace the MEC pups with something non-EMG since the HZs suck. Nordstrands are great...

personally i dont like emg's eq's...
they sound too plastic for me.
that being said, i have a pair of emg 45 tw's that im putting in my spector legend 6 string (dont hate, it is still a beautiful bass, and the build quality has tripled since the had the "professional" series, which i bought like 8 years ago as my first spector)along with an audere 4 band active eq. should be pretty versatile. will post picks when installed.

One of my favorite applications, an EMG SA Stratocaster pickup in a modded Squier Bronco body (I've also used the same model pickup in SCPBs):
