I got my info about the Geezers directly from Chrys Johnson, who brokered the deal between Geezer and EMG when he was their AR guy. He said they were specifically designed for the Geezer set to balance with the Geezer P and they're not HZ's.

Excellent. I'm going to share this info in the Spector Club.

No, it's not just an HZ. The Geezer J is a new design specifically created for the Geezer set. It's based in part off the stock pickup in one of Bobby Vega's vintage Jazz basses, but humbucking. It's not the same as any of their HZ designs.

I didn't know until now that there's an em club. I have a set of white 5 string jazz's in my Lakland DJ5. Emg are still my fav after trying out everything out there.

I had bought them of a TB member used last year. Looked to be brand new so that's about all I can say. Maybe the old switheroo don't know

FWIW - my newly acquired Geezer PJ set says EMG-GZR-PJHZ on the box and the underside of the J pickup is something like EMG-GZR-LJHZ I believe. However, the logo on the top of the pickups is just "EMG".

Maybe this is the source of the confusion?

That would be the "opti-grab". It's a little bracket to grab with your pinky so you can do cool stuff other than play bass!

Count me in... EMG 40DC pickups and an 18 volt EMG BQS System 3-band preamp with variable mids...

Finally, someone with exactly what I want, I'm getting 2 active EMG 40DC pickups with the active 18v EMG BQS 3-band EQ system preamp. Now, can you tell me what the preamp is like? Does the BQS work good with the 40DC's ? Or is there a better 18v active 3-band EQ preamp for the DC's ? Does your Bass sound like a Spector NS 5XL USA Bass?

Hey guys, I have a small problem, I'm installing EMG DC35 soap bar pups into a fender Pbass, and i'm having a hard time trying to figure out where to place them since i dont have anything with soapbars.
i'm just sort of curious where ESP and those companies place them on their 34" basses? or if there's even some schematics/blueprints i haven't been able to find?

I have a BQC in two of my basses (same preamp but 4-knob) and I'm able to get my sound much better dialed in with the BQC than the BTS thanks to the sweepable mid control. There are other preamps you can get for them that look interesting, but I don't have any problems getting what I want out of the BQC so I don't sweat it. I don't use 40DC's so I can't help you there, but I do think my active neck-thru basses with PJ's can cop Spector-sounding tones.

No offense, but most people that have a Bass guitar with EMG hz passive pickups, upgrade to something better, like active EMG 35DC or 40DC
