EMG Club!

I was wondering if some of you guys could help me out.I had a spector euro with a set of emg tw pickups in it.I always ran the neck pickup in double coil mode and the bridge pickup in single coil mode and it sounded great.I now have a spector euro with a p/j setup in it.My question is will i be able to get a similar sound out of the p pickup as i did with the tw ?

Is there ANYBODY here that likes HZ pickups more than the active models? I'm having a surprizingly hard time finding a buyer for my Schecter c5 that I've upgraded with 40J and 40P pickups. Somebody suggested the fact that it's not "stock" may be scaring people off.

I practically gave away the stock pickups because I couldn't stand the sound of them, but loved the bass, and the way it sounded with the PJ setup. I'm barely asking more for the bass than the pickups cost, and I still don't have a buyer for it.

SHM, I just don't get it.

Can I join? Rabid EMG fanboy here. I've got two basses with active EMG's and preamps. A set of JX's and another BQC are in the mail to go into my lovely Brubaker Brute JJX-4.

Here's my Peavey Grind 4 with BQC and 2 40DC's.

Here's my Hamer Cruise 2TEK with BQS, 40DC in the bridge and 40J in the neck.

3 out of my 5 Jackson/Charvels have EMGs. My PS5 and my Concert V have EMG P/Js and a passive tone. My CMG is had EMG 35DCs and a BQS Pre. I used the CMG on my bands EP and the Engineer loved it. Luckily he knew how to record dirty bass tones because if the volume it up all the way on the bass its pretty nasty.

Hi: The bass you see in my avatar has been a test bed. Originally Haggie bisonics, then
rewound by Seymour Duncan in Santa Barbara in early 70's, then two variations of Alembics,
that latter of which one got fried. The EMG's actually came pretty close. My luthier says
this bass has the deepest E string of any short scale bass he's worked on

I've got a question for those of you who have either the DC or CS pickups. I'm installing new pickups in a bass of mine with a BQS preamp. The pickups are a little bit closer to the bridge then the standard J positions (similar to a Wal) and I'm going for a clean/crisp tone with a fair amount of midrange growl (Think Hold Your Fire era Geddy Lee). I'm leaning toward the DC-X's, but I'm open to the CSX or other suggestions.

I have a Hamer Cruise with a 40J in the neck, a 40DC in the bridge and a BQS. Also a Peavey Grind with a BQC and 2 40DC's. Obviously I love the pick up. Very clean and punchy in both instruments with plenty of mid grunt options thanks to the mid sweep. It is a hot signal, but I don't have any issues clipping the front of my amp even if the bass volume control is maxed. Quite glassy and zero unwanted, overdriven gain farting. I think you'll be quite happy with the set up, however I'm a rabid EMG fanboy.
