Long time member of the EMG club!

My t50 had a wiring problem, so I went to my backup bass, a custom yamaha with dc45 pickups.

DAMN! I forgot how good this bass sounds. I think I put it away because I was going for a bass with more of a classic rock vibe, and I hated fretting about batteries dying on me at a bad time, and I like the narrow spacing of the modded peavey.

But... Holy crap, what a sound, I may have to reevaluate my objections, everyone in the band thought it was an improvement

Working on my LoBue tribute, using an EMG HB pickup stuffed under a chrome mudbucker cover.
What I've found:

1. I thought I would experience massive signal loss from the pickup cover, and added an afterburner. Not needed.

2. I think the passive tone combined with an EMG SPC, is almost as good as an EMG 3 band EQ.

I wanna be in the EMG club! I just put some Geezer Butlers in my Squier P-Bass Special (Indonesian made) and it just blows the stock pickups out of the water. The tone of the Geezers sound like they can sire many, many healthy male offspring with a single roar from the low E. The original stock pickups, by comparison, sound like a partially-used glycerine suppository.
.....so..what number am I???

emg hit a major grand slam with these pups.. i have a set of these in one of my basses

They need a proper Geezer J of the same design as the P since its just an HZ. But yeah, the P is killer.
No, it's not just an HZ. The Geezer J is a new design specifically created for the Geezer set. It's based in part off the stock pickup in one of Bobby Vega's vintage Jazz basses, but humbucking. It's not the same as any of their HZ designs.

I have heard numerous times that it is just a exposed pole HZ Jazz pickup. I cannot site specifically where at the moment, but I know a lot of guys in the Spector owners thread have used these and have worked with dealers that have had EMG confirm that, and upon hearing that information, have changed their plans and went with another J pickup. I have seen some members order sets and actually receive a standard J-HZ in the box..

I've not tried them for that reason, mostly from my experience of J-HZ pickups. But that could now change if they are in fact 'not the same as any of their HZ designs'!

I got my info about the Geezers directly from Chrys Johnson, who brokered the deal between Geezer and EMG when he was their AR guy. He said they were specifically designed for the Geezer set to balance with the Geezer P and they're not HZ's.
