EMG Club!

how old are those 35HZ's cause their website clearly shows HZ on them and even my old Jackson CMG from the 90s says HZ.

Hello EMG Brothers,

I have a ‘90s Ibanez ATK305 and it has a single triple coil pickup in the MM sweet spot. I want to replace it with a EMG MM pickup and BQC pre. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Shaun
Depends on how much you like or dislike the ATK's pickup and preamp. Don't know much about MM Pickups but the BQC is sweet as.

I agree. Ive only played one a few times but I remember them sounding really good.

That's right. Not only do they sound great in the fat, barking humbucking mode, the single coil nearest the neck sounds terrific: clear and bell-like. I kick myself in the butt every once in a while for selling mine.

I know this is a Spector and they are great on their own but how is this combo?
The EMG MM was already in the bass when I got it.
I've recently converted all my basses (all Spector) when another Spector, that had the BQC System, came through my collection and I found I really liked the pre. Warmer and I got converted to having a mid control. Plus, with the quick connect system, bypassing the blend control (unneeded here) was a breeze.

Just put a BQC in my Euro also. Love it.

I made a tone demo with my EMG 45TWX equipped Kiesel Vanquish multiscale bass. I figured this would be a good place to share it, but let me know if this isn't the appropriate place to do so.

Pretty good quality audio that was NOT recorded with a cell phone camera. Under 5 minutes in the video, all 8 possible pickup configurations shown, 3 passages for each and every pickup combination.

This is my favorite of my EMG equipped basses which also include a Hamer Cruise 2TEK 4 string (96 I think) with 40J/40DC with a BQS, and a Brubaker Brute with a JX set and a BQC pre.

I have a Fender okeume Jazz bass how ever you spell it I bought new, It had a set of Fender Active pickups. played it 2 weeks pickup quit, took it back in on the warranty got it fix free they put the same pickups in it. A month and they quit again. I didn't care for them anyway so I put a set of EMGs JV52s in it. A great awesome sound on my rig I love them and their passive. When I played guitar in a Heavy Metal Christian band all my guitars had EMGs in them active. I have a $1500.00 Lakland 3tbs hollow body with Chi-Sonic hum buckers and they sound great, but most of the time I will grab my J bass with the JV52s.

I have a complete and total beginners question: So I'm thinking about the EMG GZR PJ set to replace the stock pickups on my Fender MIM PJ special. So with the replacement, I'd just entirely remove all the inner electronics along with the pickups on my old bass and replace them with the EMG stuff, right? Does this mean that the EMG pots will fit with the Fender control knobs, or will I have to buy control knobs from EMG that match the rest of the setup?

The install is easy, no solder required, plug and play. The GZR PJ set I have came with .235" solid shaft Pots. You may check to see if you can order a set with spline shafts, if that is what you have/need or get new control knobs. You will love the Geezers !
