EMG Club!

I've been away from the Club for awhile.

So some good vibes on reconstituting a sound I was using during the recent unpleasantness. I just ordered a 35P4X and 35DCX. (Last time it was 35TWX-R but found myself in dual coil mode almost all the time. But I thought this time having the P solo option was the way to go.)

I'm wiring it again:

PU - ABCX - ATC - EXB - MV - Jack

Controls:

ABCX

MV

ATC

EXB

I find the EXB really offered some traction depending on where the treble roll off is before the EQ curve is applied. Also, that I tend to jack around with the blend much more than the volume control. I was using a Trickfish Trilobite (Mike Pope) preamp last time and it just tore your face off...this time I'm using an iSP BETA rack preamp and it may well step on your face after tearing it off!

Love my EMG....

P solo!????

I want in. I've got:

Three EMG 45DCs
Two EMG HZ's
One EMG PJ Set
One afterbuner
Three Pa-2's
One Pi-2
One BTS System
One BQC System

Sign me up for presidential membership! I don't care what these naysayers swear, EMG, to my ears, stomps my old Bartolini-equipped BTB Prestige's ass to the ground. My adventure with EMG started with one EMG45DC for a whimsical fancy, and ended up as over a grand in EMG goods, and a complete overhaul of my bass lineup.

what did you finally decide on after the DCs?

Hi!
I have one emg jazz (alder body rosewood roasted maple neck fretless) that I want to have more ooomph (punch bite, etc).I have j-x series pickups . Would adding a emg pre-amp with bass and treble boost give me some of that?
I've used a sadowsky outboard preamp to get this more beefy sound on a jazz bass several years ago.

thank you in advance,
pbass888

edit: a few months ago I posted my three jazz basses with emg sets, j-x, ja, and jv-x. I think I like the jv-x (exposed pole pieces) due to the percussive attack.Still really digging the emg's!

I would like to hear some opinions about the JAX pickups, what do you think about them?

I have them installed on my bass, but with Audere preamp. Despite the fact I have another EMG stuff ( J-Set with BTC+VMC ), never tried the JAX's with the EMG preamp.

Considering the Emg GZR treatment …
