Yes... yer going to think this is odd coming from me, but I'm hoping it might be helpful to some.
Having to get up 5:30AM 5 days a week, and then getting to bed around 4AM every Friday and Saturday sometimes puts me in dangerous situation. AND makes gigging kinda suck if I'm wiped out.
Coffee makes me jittery and sometimes upsets my stomach, so I've found Stackers to be very inexpensive, helpful aids many times on weekend gigs. I'm incredibly cautious in my usage though, and never (can't actually) take more than one in a day. I do it a little differently than most, too, and it works excellently for me.
What I do is get a 32 ounce bottle of water, open a capsule up and dump it in, shake it up - and then drink it over the course of the gig. Its just enough to give me a lift for playing, and I justify it cuz I think its actually much safer for me to do that than to drive an hour and half in the middle of the night (that's the commute for most of my gigs), falling asleep.
The ingredients aren't horrible, the lift comes from caffeine, there's no sugar, and I'm making sure I stay hydrated.
Using them any other way than the way I do, for me, would seem irresponsible.
I think its a safe, inexpensive, alternative that's even even more natural (and healtheir) than coffee. At least coffee that's got milk and sweetener in it.
Here's the nutritional info:
And here's the drugs, man
! Will make you feel nice
!!!!!
Last note: I played with a guy once who said he wound up in the hospital because of those things. He was vomiting, couldn't stop shaking, and really thought he was having a heart attack. I didn't believe him (they're not THAT powerful), and I asked him how many he took. He said he took 4. He bought a pack in a gas station and figured since there were 4, that was the serving size, lol.
Not recommended to be taken as such.
@two fingers You can yell at me now if you like
. I just find it to be a much healthier alternative to other energy drinks. And WAAAAAAY cheaper.
