Envelope filter/follower addict support group

The Tube Zipper has been high on my list for a long time, would love to hear some thoughts/samples on that one to maybe give me the final nudge of "yea or nay" on needing to try one!
Yeah man, I'll get some samples up once I get it - looks like it is going to arrive while I am out of town, so it may be two-ish weeks, but I'll get 'em up when I get a chance. Also, the Doc sez that I should give my hand a break for about two weeks, so the timing for my trip is impeccable.

And you know how I go thru filters, I might have one for sale soon. Maybe.
Curious as to which pedals you found!

Have you ever tried the Chase Bliss Billy Strings Wombtone? I snagged one when they released, pretty interesting "EnveloPhaser" (Chase Bliss' label for it).
Oof. There are quite a few - the ones that I was looking at most (in no particular order) - the EHX Eddy, Pome by Audio Cultivation Project, copilot fx autodialer, Pigtronix Tremvelope, Line 6 ToneCore Liqua Flange, AFG-1: A Dynamic Flanger by Asheville Music Tools, paradox effects futura, COMETA Envelope Chorus/Vibrato ...

I'm pretty happy with the EP-2 for the envelope phaser, and I also picked up an EHX Polyphase for s&g's, so I have that covered. I'm mostly interested in flangers, chorus, and vibratos (mostly by association). Really looking where depth is controlled by the envelope.

I'm going to be an adult (rare for me) and wait on flangers until I try the Bubbletron, but dammit if an envelope chorus pedal isn't calling my name ....

And while I was typing this, I found a good deal on an EHX Eddy, so I'll let y'all know how it is :-)

The Autodialer sounds cool, but almost kind of .. I dunno, too much? I'd want to try pretty much everything that would take a CV input!

I also have a deal for a Dr Scientist Dusk in the works - I've been looking at this. While I won't use some of the features, it looks pretty cool and it's one of the few filters that ppl have recommended that I haven't gotten my hands on yet, so I'm looking fwd to playing with it!

I found it good, even though I had no use for the whole LFO thing - the envelope works, and it does MIDI.
But! It was somewhat boring. I mean, in an envelope it IS a treat when it's easy to set and works well and predictable, which I found the dusk did.
And normal pedal format plus top jacks is nothing to frown at, either.

I sold mine, though. Might be that once you've gotten used to wrestling wild boars, you are put off when you meet a docile beast.

Have you seen the CMC Audio BFF? It just released a few days ago.

The phaser alone is worth the price, the flanger is gravy. I’ve got a dozen or so filters that I like better than the Bubbletron.
Envelope phasers are cool AF, and I'll have a few to compare. I have to take a few weeks break from playing bass (doctor's orders), so I'll have a bit of recording to catch up on, but I'll plan on doing some EP comparisons like if did EF.

I love my Dusk, just like I love all my Dr. Scientist pedals - great features and imo the easiest filter to recommend to someone who wants a high quality, "basic" Moog sound with minimal fuss. I found it compares very favorably with my MF-101 and I especially love the ability to manually trigger swells, the only reason I put my MF-101 back on the board is because I feel the Moog has that extra tiny bit of special sauce with its gain and resonance. The Dusk I'd guesstimate is about 90% of the way there, though.

I don't think it'll wow you knowing how many dope filters you've played through in this thread, but it's an easy recommend from me for anyone who isn't a total pedal nerd and just needs a high-quality filter for songs that call for it.

Bubbletron is here! It's great, better on bass than I remembered for sure. So far I think I could recreate it on the Spectrum - I may take a stab at that later. It's super funky though, and easy to dial in which is always appreciated. It also responds real nice with my Digitech Ricochet in front!

Might record a little jam with it if anyone is interested in some sound samples.

I'd love to hear it - please post something up. I grabbed one of the "Ler" Bubbletron a while back, simply because i'm a Primus fan. I only tried it out briefly - more the envelope filter part, but found it a little tricky. Might have to bring it out again and have another play with it. :)

I have not seen this yet but I'm interested!

Also, in the interests of giving pedals another chance, I'm considering giving the Prunes and Custard another go round. That, and/or the TWA Dynamorph.

I got my Bubbletron today. I could only pluck it a few times to make sure it works, but that envelope phaser is pretty funky. The envelope flanger isn't quite what I thought, so I'm happy that I held off on buying another to compare. I'll put it thru it's paces in a out two weeks.

Also, while not related to envelope anything, in the interests of giving pedals another chance, I picked up a Smokin Amps Co. Big Bass Fuzz for a second time. Stupid cheap ($60 used), and punches way above it's weight class, and it sounds great with an envelope filter for synthy tubes.

I sold it originally because I thought I had too many fuzzes.

Operative word was "thought" lol.

I ended up with three (so far) different envelope phasers - the Pigtronix EP-2. the Keeley Bubbletron, and the EHX Polyphase.

I had thought that I was digging myself out of the envelope filter rabbit hole, but looks like I've found myself in another one.

The three are fairly different - the EP2 is smooth and deep, but doesn't get "poppy" for lack of a better term. It responds extremely well to playing dynamics.

The Bubbletron is the poppiest out of the three - you can definitely hear that phase (nothing subtle about it)! Very cool and pronounced effect.

The EHX is in the middle of those two - it's quite smooth, very funky, and very deep and rich.

All three are super cool, and I can't really put them thru their paces yet. I'm really interested in seeing which one(s) pair best with an envelope filter.

I'm the maker of this pedal, this actually contains a fully featured fuzz with a parametric boost in front of it. this goes into a second circuit, which is a synth style Low pass filter, that you can set by hand, expression or by envelope control (either up or down with an atenuverter style control). so indeed it's a true 2 in one :)

This is maybe a little off topic, but this seems like maybe the best place to post it in this thread, because I just took delivery of a new device that's kinda like an EnvelopeFilter+++. It's called a Pro VS Mini hybrid vector synthesizer, and it's modeled after an old school synth called the Prophet VS.

I'm not quite sure what I'll use it for, but I can set it octaves down so it's in a bass register, and it can make a really really wide variety of sounds. It has a really tiny piano keyboard, but it can sound huge. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do, and it's already been a blast to play with. It will filter your envelope, among other things.

I'm posting on the chance that maybe this is what someone else out there has been looking for without realizing it, or maybe someone else's thoughts on this will inspire me on a new way to use it, too. It's small enough that one could even mount it on a pedalboard and run it off a USB plug, though it doesn't have an input for guitar, just midi.
