envelope filter

I'm looking for a envelope filter that is pretty funky but can also be suddle. I've read some other threads and about 90% of the threads are for the 3leaf audio protons and grs. They look awesome but I was hoping to learn about some other ones too.

My first recommendation is for the Dunlop Bass Wah. Being able to use the pedal in a dynamic fashion is a huge plus.

MXR Enveloppe Filter is also very good and so is the Haz Mutron III if you can deal with the large footprint.

I have to say that the MXR was really, really nice for that classic funk sound. I'd be using it still if I hadn't been seduced away by Source Audio and all the crazy, crazy things their stuff can do.

I have not made the change over to the Source Audio one yet... but I'm very intrigued by the capabilities.

That said I love my MXR. I had the EBS BassIQ which was solid, but having the ability to blend in your dry signal really helps make it as subtle as you can ask for

I've got the source audio Bef, a Ehx Bassballs, and an Ehx Enigma Qballs. I've had several others in the past, too.

I love the bass balls. It's my favorite pedal I own. Super simple and sounds great for what I play and want. It is a one trick pony, but it does that trick really well.

The q-balls isn't very easy to use. I've had trouble getting a usable tone. I found the expression pedal to be worthless and very hard to control. I'm not a fan. Some players love it, and it's versatile enough that I can find good setting on it. However, it's easier just to toss the Bassballs on and be done.

The BEF is killer. Easy to use, crazy versatile... It's the best general envelope filter I've ever had.

I have both the MXR M82 and the EBS BassIQ. They're both excellent filters, but the MXR offers more controls, including the option to blend a dry (unfiltered) signal together with the filtered signal. Check out the tutorials and reviews on YouTube, they're very helpful.

But, but, sugarmag, Jerry used the filter, not Phil!

Just joshing with ya! Lot's of good suggestions so far, the Source Audio is very versatile, I'd go with the Pro if you have the room on your board and the cash.

Robottalk, WMD Superfatman, SubDecay has three pretty sweet looking filters, from the simple Proteus on up throught the Prometheus DLX. The EHX Enigma looks pretty cool, I have the QTron+ which is good but has quite a built-in volume boost, so it might not so subtle that well.
