this brings up a great question,

what amps are you guys using w/ your epifani rigs and why?

i still love my 902. perfect combo of clarity and sheer brute sonic authority. but i do admit, eden amps and their EQ's really mind meld well w/ the epifani relative neutralish feel. even my ag500 does a great fat rock tone thru my ul310.

With my experience with the 210UL/310UL/410UL, which are all more similar than different:

Assuming you want a relatively even, punchy tone, versus the 'big boom':

I use LM11 99% of the time, with Orange AD200 for that extra 1% of serious fun.

When I have the funds, I'm gonna get another PS112 so I can rock the stack if I get the urge.

I'm doing the LMII thing. A couple times I've stuck my PHA-1 in front of it just for giggles. The PHA-1 in front of my old Focus 2 made it a decent match for the Epi gear.

Nice short summary on Epi cabs/voicing. +1 from my own experience except that the Shuttle 6.0 through UL2-410 has REALLY been sweet with my Valenti PJ5. The Shuttle 6.0 provides sufficient lows set flat with this cab but I agree a 250 Hz low mid bump would make this even better. I'm thinking the extra semi-parametric mid, addition of an FET channel for those who like it clean, and other subtle voicing improvements in the Shuttle 6.0/12.0 Max should move this from OK to Best for the 210UL/310UL/410UL Epi cabs.

Yeah, the 350 Hz lowmid of the LMII is a little high. I use the sweepable mids at on my J-Retro for the bump when I want it. Gonna have my switchable mids on the CallowHill set at 250 and prolly 800.

That's one of the reasons the LMII was in my 'OK' category. The F1 has a tighter low end and that more low mid presence actually built in, making the low mid control a less of a requirement. But boy oh boy.. the low mid control on the Puma with the Epi

Well, ironically, one of the things I like most about the Epi cabs is they seem to work great for me for any amp I like, which effectively takes them out of the equation.

That said, my current fave heads, in no particular order, are the Mesa M6 Carbine, the Eden WT-405 Time Traveler, and the Mark Bass F1.

I've posted this rig several times before but not yet in the Epi Club thread. This rig sounds massive and has never failed to fill up big outdoor stages where PA support has been required. Sounds great on indoor gigs, too. Big, warm, articulate. I run the Crown in bridged mode. Cabinet is 4 ohm. Rack rig weighs 40.5 lbs. Cab weighs 56.5 lbs. This cab also sounds great with my little Eden WT-400. I don't use my UL-210 much anymore except for low volume rehearsals and private practice at home.

For larger gigs I'll swap out the 310 with a 410, occasionally adding a 210 for a bit more oomph.

I still have the 902 amp, but it only saw use on two gigs last year (with both 410's)...and unfortunately nothing is on the books yet for this year. Nothin' quite like fillin' the stage with the power of low notes.

the f-1absolutely kills with epifani ul cabs. the tight, quick low end is perfect for taming that massive/open/bloomy low end potential of the epifani cabs. my older GK700rb couldnt tame the lows of my old nyc 1x12 +1x10 epifani stack, but the markbass f-1 powering an ul 1x12 is not leaving me craving anything tone wise lately, which is always a good thing for a gassy bassist.

i must also say, the high end of my new r-bass and the haz labs 3 band on board preamp in it, pairs great with the tweeter and high end voicing of epifani cabs....im really happy with my current setup!!!!!

Big bottom and polite mids meets big bottom and polite mids, resulting in lots of low end, and very little clarity or definition. I didn't dig that at all. IMO.
