Epifani Club! I've seen the "light"!

Welp, here it is, actually I was tryingto be practical when I decided to go with the 4-410 8 Ohms bins
Using the Boogie Titan which allows for 8/4/and 2 Ohm settings I can
1. Use 1 4x10 at 8 Ohms and 650wtts (small gigs)
2. Use 2 4x10's at 4 Ohms and 1200wtts (med gigs)
3. Use 4 4x10's at 2 Ohms and 1400wtts (Wembley Staduim)LOL!!

Just turning this thing on in my condo shakes the walls
I have a couple of Mesa 1x15 cabs tat I'm thinking about off'n but they to are at 8 Ohm loads so I could actually insert a 15 into the mix as well.....

As with others above, I have to ask. I can't imagine a situation where anyone would need more than one 410... MAYBE two for very loud stage monitoring in arena type situations.

Also, I wish Epifani would update their website to reflect the new weight and look. I wonder if Nick is just putting the Eminence Neo's in the PS boxes now to 'standardize' the line. That would explain the additional weight, and they 'look' like the PS 410's now.

Yeah, the differance in the looks of the cabs bugs a little bit.
Kjung, which ones look like the PS's to you? the new heavier grill ones? or the original lighter ones?...I thought the original light ones looked a little closer to the PS line myself.
I've A/B'd the cabs to death over the weekend and I can't hear any noteworthy differance between the 2 versions.
FYI...Upeer left and bottom right are the new ones with emenance speaks and the upper right and lower left are the lighter BnC's....appearance wise they look pretty close to me.
and sound wise I can't tell any diff between the 2.....
As far as my thinking on this it's mainly the need for speaker space coverage....with a wall of speakers I won't have to drivemy head nor the speakers anywhere near the point I used to have to to be heard over the marshals and 26 inch Gretch kit my drummer is using. I blew up a couple of sets of 15's tryig to compete (400wtt speaks and a set of 600 wtt speaks) I spoke with Uncle Toad about my problems and he recommended an 8 ten cab for the music I play and I just took it to the next level in order to make full use of the head...ala 16x10's at 2 Ohms.
Peter....So I guess 32 tens and 2 heads is just totally out of the question huh? Damn! LOL!!
Never claimed to have a handle on reality when it comes to playin but my logic is broken down in the origianl post ala lines 1,2,and 3.....my group MAY be playing some festivals over the summer and the wall will make itself useful IF that happens.

You might want to look again.

The S2 UL410 looks NOTHING like the PS410. The size is different, the PS grill is curved, and the PS ports are totally different.

The ONLY cosmetic thing that's changed on the new ones is the grill material. Other than that, it's the exact same cab as the older S2's, S1's, etc, from a dimension and shape perspective. Exactly. I have one of each sitting right in front of me right now.

That said, I also wish he'd put some info on the web site about whatever is going on, and I also echo your sentiment about not being able to imagine ever needing more than a pair of these monsters. Wow.

Actually, the picture you post of the UL is an old picture of the discontinued NYC cabs (ANOTHER mistake on the EPi website). The cabs on the right of the posters picture seem to have the PS grills on them, but I can't quite tell. The NYC's had the same dimensions as the UL, just different wood and drivers. Since they have upped the weight of the new UL"s and are using the same grill material, it would make sense to me for them to take the next step and standardize the cabs, especially noting the limited weight difference now between the UL and PS (about 12 pounds).

It looks like the grill material is the same, but obviously, the cab is different than the PS at this point... I couldn't quite tell in that earlier posted picture.

My recommendation would be to get the two 'lighter' 410UL's out on a gig as quickly as you can. My guess is, you will find that stack exponentially louder than the 2x115 cabs you used before.

You could then return the two 'heavier' UL's and get your money back (MF has a nice 'no questions asked' return policy).

This would solve your cash issue, your 'non matching cabs issue', your 'weight issue', and quite frankly, make your rig a little less 'silly' IMO

Edit: And remember, if you do play any 'festivals', there will be large PA systems provided with a sound professional. The LAST thing you want in a situation like that is huge volume coming from the stage... not good.

I can finally, after 3 months, show you Guys my little Aussie battler.
Ordered my UL-212 2, only to replace both drivers with faults from the factory.
Not sure if was the Eminance or Epi factory??
My Dealer and Serviceman were great.
Now I can play!!!
500w into a 4ohm cab.
Nice little monster!

BTW. The pink euk is my Grand-daughter's not mine!!!!!!!

I'm struggling a bit with the specs and appearance of the UL310 as well. I ordered one expecting a depth of 16.5" per Epifani's web site, and ended up with a cab that is 17.75", the same as the UL410. Now, who cares about an inch and a quarter, you say, but it makes a big difference trying to pry the cabinet into the back seat of my car.

So, like Willie, I've ended up with a mixture of cabinets. I have a 4-ohm UL2-410 (the lighter one with the fine grill and hand writing on the back) and a UL2-310 that's the latest version with a heavier grill and heavier overall weight (it seems to weigh the same as the UL2-410). For practice, I have a UL2-112, the newest version, and it weighs in at 33 pounds vs the advertised weight of 30 pounds. It's all a bit irritating when you're trying to match things up from a size and cosmetic point of view (although I have to say the sound using my UL902c is spectacular).

Does anyone know which version of the UL310 is actually 16.5" deep?

I saw a pic from Epifani's Summer NAMM 08 booth in a thread here on TB. The UL410 (S2) shown in the pic looks like it has the newer grill with the bigger holes. Sure wish someone would call Nick and get the straight scoop. The added weight while not much for some, is a LOT for others. (like me) a Deal killer in fact. Too bad. Best guess is they made cost cutting decisions and the trade off was higher weight. Too bad.

Yes, this is absolutely true.

My take on it, based on the two real life examples I have at my house right now, plus what Epifani told me, is the materials changed, but the design is the same. The net result is a heavier cab, and a different grill material. Same design, and same drivers, tho (as the S2 UL anyway).

Here's the thing... I'm not sure what changes Epifani is making, but I sure would like to know, and yeah, they're not good at keeping the web site up to date, which doesn't help at all.

Whether or not they move towards more of a mass production out-sourcing model and product line merging business model with less of the work actually being done here in the USA, well, time will just have to tell I guess.

Sounds like us adoring Epifani fans are maybe becoming nervous and even questioning Company information and quality.
Grills and sizes are one thing, but replacing 2 x drivers in a brand new cab is another.
Unfortunately I couldn't try before I buy as our Dealer is on the East Coast and I am on the West Coust of Australia.
Trust in reputation was my determining factor.
Yes it would be nice if an Epifani Rep could try to instill some confidence.
I know other manufacturers don't mind commenting on forums.

I was wondering if those cab had a coating as opposed to the fur. I use Epi now but do miss that finish that I had on EA. Can't see the Piccolo. Must be a Waldo kind of thing.
