It's a Matsumoko



built early 70s shortscale. I have a solid body and a semi acoustic (6 string guitar ) from this era and they are great players.

I want this bass and the semi acoustic hollow body to round out the set when I find clean examples priced right.

These are MIJ basses manufactured by Matsumoku. They're from the mid-70s. If the quality is anything like my Univox Hi-Flyer, these are great little basses.

I did some work on one of these for a friend. GREAT sounding bass!!! The pickups are a little noisey, but worth it for the tone. The pups have a floating magnet in the pickup route, very crude but have a killer BIG sound!

Methinks the price is a little high. I would happily pay 250 or 300 in great shape.

My second bass owned is nearly identical.
When pups on my first [s scale / single pup] KAY died; parents bought me a 1970-71 Epi..only mine has a Fender-like headstock.

In less than a year, pups on the Epi died.. bought my first Rick [ 72/73....stolen in mid 80's] ..never looked back.. I still keep the Epi for sentimental reasons..
