Epiphone Resurrection

Stole another few minutes to drill for the machine heads.
Not a lot to report. Just been sanding, prepping and sealing the face for paint before applying the new decal.
Laid on a coat of primer. Next comes the gloss coats.
Welcome back. You missed the completion of the Wolf bass and once this one is done I have an Epiphone Embassy with a missing headstock to fix. Good times!I been away for a while and just now got caught up on this thread.
This is working out beautifully. Good call on the V headstock. Loving this save.
I have a loaded LTD F series 5-string body that doesn't have a neck. So at some point I gotta make a neck for it. So I always try to watch these kinds of builds. Good times indeed!
I apologize for no new updates. I've been busy welding up a new dump box frame for my 51 GMC. Also with the advent of winter I need to set up some heating in thr garage/workshop. Hoping to post progress soon.
Small update. Started to wet sand the black in preparation for decal installation.
First step with this decal is to put a coat of clear on it. Following the instructions included with.
Scalloped the end of the fretboard after the 22nd fret to blend the little bit of extra length I left to set the neck properly to the bridge position.
Well what I thought would be a silver "Epiphone" ended up nearly transparent and looks almost invisible on the black headstock. I contacted to vendor to see what's up with his decal but am not expecting a resolution (there were deliver issues). I'll have to source another and will advise if this vendor has a fix. If not I'll identify them so others won't have to deal with this.
Update. So apparently inkjet decals do not work over dark wood or dark/black surfaces. Good to know. Had to search though their ad to find thre reference to that. They said they were sending a "foil" replacement so there will be a delay in this project.
So the vendor came through. Sent some "foil" decals. New to me, just peel off the backing and carefully lay on. Press on the lettering to set then peel off the clear overlay. I think it looks pretty smart. So now the burying under clear starts.
Started to lay on the clear coat.
I think I have enough on to bury the decal. I'll let it harden up and sand back for a final shot of clear.
Not finished with the headstock yet but wanted to see the overall look. I'm thinking this looks pretty frickin cool.
I wet sanded the headstock and will shoot a couple of more coats.
