Nice! I can't imagine any of our gigs getting that kind of promotion.

Practice for us tonight, going to run through the set list a couple of times. Gig coming up April 5th is a DIY warehouse show, looking forward to that - I won't spend my entire payout on beer!

I lived in Gainesville when they were playing and caught them a couple times, but it was one of those things where they played so often that I took it for granted and would miss shows thinking they would be back in a month or so. Man I am kicking myself now, they were sooooo amazing live.

My roomates bass player has been using my set up. His GK 700rb is over there. I should hook it up and see how it sounds before I make any rash decisions.
The Charvel does sound pretty good though :) I'm pretty happy with that purchase. The G string is pretty quiet. Needs fresh strings and a set up for sure.

I actually bought a 700rb for exactly the reason you are saying. I had this VB2 for two years and tried every setting I could think of and I just couldn't get a huge lowend out of it. I think it has to do with a combo of not enough headroom and the el34s in the power section. I think this amp is great for most bassists but if you need a really tight huge lowend it just doesn't do it.

I traded a 700rb for the VB2 a few years back... hahaha

When I had 4 15s and it was perfect for doom.
But I need some solid state for extra versatility. I think I'm going to be playing less doom. More 80s metal mixed with some stonery riffs.

Hung out with my guitarist yesterday. Talked about all the stuff I was selling to get this les Paul bass. By the time I finished he was looking at me like I was crazy. Then he says "I get that you CAN do this, and it sounds neat, but WHY? For the same money you could change all the hardware and get new pots and pickups for that epi tbird. Thunderbirds are your thing man. Why f*** that up?" I had nothing. I feel bad but I think I might call it off. He had a good point. Well I'm off to go parts shopping. Thinking mike lull tbird pups...

Time for researching heads again, yay! While I save for that and a greenboy. I think I'm going to drink the kool aid.

I've always wanted to check out a Tbird. Everytime I hear them live, I'm like "F*ckin a that sounds good!"

Hey Bee, do you know how amazing Episodes I-III are? Lucas really turned around the slop that was the first three movies with those. I sure am glad he went through them and updated them, to make them almost as good as the new ones.

I never understand why Bobby always says that the VB2 only sounds good loud because I feel like once you push it too much the lowend really suffers. When it really comes down to it there is a reason why an American made amp is much cheaper than an amp made in a sweatshop in Indonesia or wherever. Peavey doesn't have some magic powers they had to cut corners to hit their price point, and I don't think that they were terribly worried about guys like us who drive their amps to extremes. Again if you aren't playing really heavy music the VB2 is an insanely good deal, I just have never been able to get it to do what I want it to do. On the other hand, I was able to get closer to what I want out of the 700rb from the moment I plugged it in.

Argh come on income tax return...
I don't usually get excited over jazz basses but I dig old G&L's. This thing is like 12 miles from where I live. The local Mom and Pop music store had this same model that some clambake made fretless and I still loved playing it. $375 USA model with hardcase!

two lulls will run you $700+ so just be prepared to spend looooot.
