I'm using 2 power amps and the Dunwich preamp.

Ampeg side of the dunwich goes to a Carvin DCM3800L (SS 3800 watts) bridged into the 66.
ORMAR side of the dunwich goes to a Carvin TS100 (Tube 100 watts) bridged into the dually.

Obviously the Dunwich is all tube as well.

The bulk of the power/low end comes from the Ampeg/66/Carvin SS

Then the ORMAT/Dually/Carvin Tube adds more mid/grind and volume.

It's kind of like I'm using a guitar amp for extra distortion along side my bass setup.

I put some new strings on my bass last night. I went with a lighter gauge. I'm hoping they will be less pummeling to my pedals and amps.

I picked up a ZVex Distortron to try. It sounded decent at bedroom levels but I need to try it at stage volume to make any decisions.

I also recently got a HPF-Pre so I'll try that with the 8x10 to see if it keep the speakers from farting out constantly.

Also...the Tech21 is LOUD!!!!! and it has ridiculous low end. It sounds great but the low end is just too much for any of my cabs. Not that I need all that mud anyway.

i run the same concept just with all tubes, SVT into the 8x15s for all my sub lows, and my sound city 150 into the 12x12s for a lot of the grindy/mid push. together they sound so awesome, and its funny now cause one without the other is always missing something to me (also split the signal and have different fuzzes running to each which helps control the tone even more).

if i end up with this hiwatt 405 ill have two 300+ watt tube heads running into 20 speakers, so as long as im not hurting my amps by sending an F or Eo into it, i think ill be ok.

i tried a zvex wooly mammoth and it was one of the worst fuzzes i ever heard (that pedal is the reason i sought out a bluebeard). farted out horribly, could not handle any low end (tuned to A) and even at my loud volumes (which for you are right around practice amp levels) it died badly.

for an almost 400 dollar fuzz it was a ****ing piece of **** haha

I've contemplated running different gain pedals for each signal path, but the Demon King into both sounds pretty great, so I'm not going to mess with that....for now.

If you can find it let me know. There were not many of the Classic 400's made, and there is not a lot of info out there on them. I have dug around to find schematics and such.

The Distortion is a little tamer. It's shooting for a raging Marshall vibe.

I also picked up some felt picks. They are darker than my regular pics. Like getting a finger sounds with a pick.

I landed a Wooly clone in a trade, pure shite in a box, couldn't sell it off fast enough.

I did have a wooly clone that was modified or built wrong, but when you would put a buffered pedal or compressor in front of it, it would sound grindy and awesome. I used it for the Consent demo....Sounds nothing like a wooly mammoth.

Doing the same here only all SS. Vulcan into 18s, one of them is folded, for dubby lows and fuzz.

Pa200 into 215 for grindy loud.

No pedals.

I know a few people who run the zvex distortion with great results.
