what type of eq are you looking for? If youre interested in a simple bass / treble thats clean, you could do an exotic rc booster, it can get hairy, but you have to turn the gain up. If you want a graphic style, there the venerable boss pedal.
is something missing in the signal or are you more interested in a "second" channel, or you have another bass that needs it more than say the main axe? These are questions to answer first before getting an eq pedal because youll end up not too happy with what you buy. But there are good ones out there.

You should email [email protected] and ask him about his bass-voiced 5-band fully parametric EQ stomp box. It will probably cost you less then the Xotic and he can build in any additional features, feedback loops, parallel inputs or outputs, etc. that you need.
MXR has a 6 band and 10band graphic eq which is footswitchable and very transparent. I owned the 10band and it was amazing. In fornt of an amp, going direct to the studio you name it. Plus its footswitchable. I also had the 6 band blue box model that came out in the 80s... Only downside back then was that they weren't footswitchable.

Woohoo! it was me that initiated that idea! I'm the client he keeps referring to. I'm pretty excited about it. It should be great, can't wait to see/hear it finished.

I'm basically looking at utilizing an EQ pedal as a "2nd channel" for my LMII head. Something like that Nathan East pedal might have been perfect. The simpler the better. Clean enough to run into my Earthworks pre w/minimal noise. I want something set up for when I go from fingerstyle to slap. I'd much rather stop a pedal than mess with the onboard EQ while trying to play in mid-performance.

If you can find one, The old Trace Elliot SM7 stompable EQ is top of the heap audio quality wise. Seriously top end rack kinda perfomance in a stomp bx. Give you 2 pre-shapes that are foot selectable on/off and 7 band, voiced for bass graphic/on off. So you have dry, pre-shaped, graphic'ed, or pre-shaped & graphic'ed EQ sounds pluss oddles of clean gain. It makes the other stomp box graphic's I've heard sound like toys ...

Im planning on getting the empress ParaEQ soon to enhance my fuzz selection (420 and 666Hz FTW, plus cutting a little of the high end....).

I love mine, its better than the EQ on my amp, so i have turned the amp EQ off and have the pedal permanently infront of the amp. Sounds great, and is very flexible. It does simply what it says on the tin.. its an EQ, for bass!

I've only used two personally. The Xotic RC Bass Booster which is more like a "give your passive bass a forward and active sound" pedal, and the Dr Scientist The Cleanness, a cool three knob deal. I was also looking for the eq pedal to be a 'second channel', and neither of these two really did that for me. The difference wasn't dramatic enough. The Empress is probably the only EQ pedal I'd look at if I really wanted an "eq pedal" at this point. But probably I'd sooner use a light drive (most impart some "eq effect") for a second channel mid-song or a second bass between songs.
