Ernie Ball Classic Reissues With Slight Issue

Harry, JTE menioned great key things...
As far as the SR4, the other thing I want to mention is the necks. These are supposed to have the vintage 'fender-like' profile the originals had. I still own both preEB and EB Rays, and the necks are night and day, I still grab my '78 first because the tone is deeper and the neck is that comfy profile.
The EB have flatter fingerboard radius, mondo frets, and a clubby feeling back along with a hard angled sharper findgeboard edge. The old preEB necks being fender-like have the rounder fingerboard radius and slimmer on the back, smaller frets and the rounded fingerboard edge.

The ones at Bass Player Live (the Classic 4 strings) were selling, I think, for around 1750-1800 or so. Somewhere close to that, anyway.
So add maybe a couple of hundred for the fivers.
Just guessing, though, I haven't heard anything about prices.
Wow, those new Stingrays are heartbreakers! Does the string spacing look wider to anyone else or is is that just wishful thinking on my part?
I was have always thought there were three things they could do to perfect the Stingray (at least for me);1.Make the pickup sound like the four string (which I have heard they did with the Alnico) 2. Make them sting thru to improve the B string feel and 3. Full string spacing at the bridge.
Looks like they have at least given me two out of three!

It's really cool that EBMM decided to release them in 5 string models. Whether they are accurate or not I really don't care. They look awesome.
As far as the "reissue" statement, the only thing I see on that bass that is "resissue"-worthy is the fact that it has a glossed figured neck. The bridge is NOT a reissue because it's like the Flea bridge, but has a string-through. The Flea bridge never had that, so it is in essence, a new design. The barrels are hollow, like the originals, though. It has mutes....the only thing I see that is "retro" about it, but my '94 has mutes, too...so it's not that retro. The 2-band eq is still available, so that's current issue.
Maybe they brought back a few retro colours, a highly figured neck, the original MM logo, slab body and steel plate battery cover (which my EBMM has), but it really just is a different take on a current design with some new stuff in there, too. I think if EB put out the same colours and a figured gloss neck as options on their curretn basses, we'd all be drooling just s well.

I swear, if Musicman came out with a 6 string Stingray or Sterling, I'd be all over that like Haitians on relief aid. (yes, I did just go there)

These are not "Reissues". Reissue is a Fender term, and is false to call these a reissue...they are not meant to be one, only a rendition of the old style basses. This is just like the majority of people calling all nose tissues 'kleenex', it's incorrect.
From 5ft away these Classic StingRays look alot more similar to my '78 StingRay than they look at all like my '07 StingRay.
Also, the only two colours that were original are black and sunburst. The pastel colours were never originally used on preEB or EB musicmans. The trans white they used on one bass was a '90-92 colour.
Thumb screws adjust the height of the fingers that hold the mutes. No quick release. Sort of a cross between the string mutes on the original Fender Jazz bass and the bridge Leo designed for CBS on the Mustang Bass.

As far as I know there is no up charge for the figured necks, they are a standard option. You have the choice of bird’s eye or flamed maple. If you are interested in placing an order give me a call to discuss options and final price."
I am counting pennies and recycling all the cans I can find until I have enough.
The question now is, which colors are available? They stated on the EBMM forums that they will have a few colors avail each quarter. So if you are set on a particular color you may have to hold your breath until it comes around.
I want the trans white myself. Though the seafoam is starting to be appealing.

Luckily I'm keeping my GAS in check since nobody posted a picture of a black/black/maple SR4, and since I don't know what Jack's getting at about the trans white.
