I'm not sure what you're getting out of this if you're not actually disclosing any useful information. So I implied you must be getting some sense of superiority or something, imho

Fair enough.
It's simple really. Most online retailers of musical instruments have a sales staff that work via phone. These individuals typically work on commission and have tremendous leeway over the final price you pay. If you establish a strong purchase history and work with the same guy you can and will get great deals.
As far as learning the wholesale value that is down to keep on touch with those in the business who (like me) constantly haggle and never pay retail. You get w feel for how low you can go

That's good advice. Thanks for sharing.
One of the things I do in the shops is look at the stock and the advertising displays. If they have big cardboard adverts for a particular brand or lots of a specific brand, I can usually guess they they are getting a better price wholesale.
I'm not buying enough basses for it to really make a difference in the big picture. I can imagine someone who flips basses regularly would really benefit from saving some percentages here and there.

The value...well thats up to you (I think they are stunning). I'm here to say that the price is negotiable. Yes if you're paying full retail you are in fact paying TOO much...because you simply don't have to. If that hurts your feelings I'm sorry...maybe next time you will think twice before you pay full price for something that I can guarantee you don't have to...unless you just like giving money away that is.

Who pays retail for a bass? There's also 'street price', which is the more real number. Is it possible to get things mildly below this "street price"? Every day. Is it possible to get stuff below 'wholesale'? Yes, in a clearance. Why clearance? To either make room for a new line/model, or to take out the trash. You decide.

Yeah I could tell you knew just wanted to clarify. I just try and make sure the info is always correct otherwise it can spin off and become fact.

Oh boy. Never noticed that, and I even owned one briefly, but now I might not be able to look at a Bongo without thinking of a toilet seat!

That said, they are still kinda cool. If you could use them as porta- potties, even cooler.
