ernie ball nicklel versus d'addario and dr.

When I use rounds Ive been using E Ball nickel hybrid strings for a fender jazz.

How do these compare in terms of lasting power and sound versus d'addario and DR?

I get my strings for about 13 a pack so I do think the hybrid slinkys are a good deal and sound good on a strung thru mia jazz.

I play with the bridge p/u all the way up and the neck and tone at 0 usually for this bass.

Any one done an a/b on these or similar nickel strings?

Dr? which ones do you like? I like the slightly less brightness (slightly) of nickel and the feel. I read ed friedlands review and soundclips
and man it was hard to find 1 dr there in his test that i did not like... esp the sunbeams.

I've been using D'Addario XL Chrome flats, and Fender nickel flats, Prefer the D'Ads. Put the XL chrome med-light version on my Fender Kingman acoustic bass, and I think I like them over the standard gauge XL flats.

Recently have tried DR. Sunbeam roundwounds just on a Jazz bass just before I took it in for a custom bone nut and setup. First impression was very good. Very high quality, bright and supple. But they are still new. But I really think these will be great strings and I'll go back for more. They are known for longevity and the round core feels really responsive across the fret = less finger mashing.

Took the D'Ad flats off and put on a set of DR hi-beam flats. First Impression was how amazingly smooth and seamless the DRs are. They are also more supple and have far less 'hi tension cable' feel to them than most flats. But so far haven't played that bass enough to tell (I'm operating on it: replacing the pots/capac/plug-in). They do feel 'scrubbier' than the D'Ads despite their seamless smooth quality - like a very, very fine grit (as in automotive wet-sand paper), where the D'Ads are smooth-and do have a nice bright quality as far as flats go.

Also recently I bought some Ernie Ball Slinkys to put on my '74 Ric 4001R. never tried Ernie Ball before, but they are a bit less doe than the D'Ads. Not on yet, so I've just wasted your time on this EBall crit... 8:^)
