I've already said how I would do a blind test.

Would you agree that the blind test described in my prior posts meets your definition of a test that involves no "tricks"? Since the test that I proposed involves the sound clips provided by ESP itself on its website and a computer program that randomly selects which sound clip is "X" for each trial, I assume you will agree that it is a fair test with no possibility of trickery, but if you disagree, by all means please let us know your objections and we'll see what we can do to address them.

Some have such a serious disdain for this power cord that I would not say that trickery would be beneath some.

Again there are some who don't agree with those who say they hear a difference. And are just short of saying that they feel that the ones who do hear a difference has got to be missing something upstairs :)

It's been hinted at many times throughout this thread.

You missed the first question, how is somebody going to trick you into hearing NO difference? What other settings can be changed to make your signal sound more "the same as it already is"?

water filters don't work either, then...you'd have to go right back to the reservoir/glacier...

Cheers,

First, does ESP actually claim that its cords work as a filter? The analogy used earlier in the thread is that the ESP cord is like a fire hose and a regular cord is like a garden hose. That doesn't sound like a filter to me. Second, the efficacy of water filters can be measured and quantified.

No, actually, we are saying EXACTLY the opposite. You are claiming that your brain processes sound differently from ordinary humans, and that you are not subject to the same psychoacoustic phenomena as the rest of humanity. We are arguing that your ears and brain work the same way as everyone else's.

Again, I beg of you, please TRY to understand that this is not personal attack, or a criticism of your integrity. If you would watch the video about the McGurk effect, you might understand that it is a well established scientific fact that what you see can impact what you hear. I will readily admit, for example, that I am subject to the effect demonstrated in that video, and that I "hear" a different sound when I see the person in the video say "fa" rather than "ba." Jimmy has acknowledged this as well. Does this mean that we are imagining things? No. Does it mean that we are "missing something upstairs"? No. It just means that our brains works the same way as everyone else's brains and use visual cues to interpret the information they get from our ears. Whether you want to admit it or not, you are subject to the same phenomenon.

I don't think that there is anyone in this thread (or at least, anyone who knows what they're talking about) who thinks that you are crazy for hearing a difference with the ESP cord. What we object to is your refusal to acknowledge even the possibility that--just as with the McGurk effect--what you are hearing may be the result of some other factor besides the actual sound that is coming from the source.

They do, but even if it did any filtering, which is dubious, it would still be utterly meaningless considering the DC rectification that is done to the power before it ever hits any audio processing or amplification stage.

Don't bother man. He ignores posts like this and keeps trotting out the "oh everybody thinks my brain doesn't work because I hear something".

Reading comprehension for the win!

No, I said that I have very good hearing.( And it has been proven many times over by those who have seen it displayed first hand).

And I also mentioned that I can actually hear a tonal change when I use the ESP power cord.

Read my posts a few more times on the matter for more accurate clarification for you personal records ;)

It really is a known fact that every one doesn't hear the same.

Yes. But more importantly, as I posted a few pages ago:

"What I have a problem with is the owner's explanation of how it works, which is patently and utterly ridiculous.
Amps don't run on AC, and even if they did, the AC power we use to run them is single-phase, which is immune to phase distortion, which is what he claims his cable takes care of. His explanation is a pure fantasy, and that is simply fact, not opinion....."

I dunno, if the company making the claims, cannot back them up with any type of solid data, you have to suspect that there isn't much to back up the claims.

I liken this debate like the ones I see here about guys who, on two separate basses, hear the tonal differences between indian rosewood and Brazilian rosewood.
If you can and it makes you play/feel better, great.

I do not dispute that you have excellent hearing, but what we're discussing in this thread has very little to do with the acuity of your hearing, and everything to do with how the human brain processes and perceives sound.

Read my posts a few more times on the matter for more accurate clarification for you personal records ;)

You know what would be an accurate clarification for my personal records? The positive results of your ABX test. I see that in your usual fashion, you have avoided my direct questions, and instead responded only with smartass comments and boasts about your hearing.

Since you ignored it last time, I will ask it again:

Would you agree that the blind test described in my prior posts meets your definition of a test that involves no "tricks"? I've highlighted the question so that you cannot possibly miss it. It is a simple, yes or no question.

I look forward to your response.

When science is gonna prove without any doubt that the big bang really did happened and prove it 100% with mesurements and all, there are people who are still gonna believe in Adam & Eve.
