Thanks for the vote phillipmorephil, this bass absolutely smokes my Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 with those fancy EMG HZ pups and 18v preamp. After building this bass I am all about passive and will be re-doing my Schecter with passive Delano Soapbar pups.
In progress...but getting there. This is the clip with flatwounds and the stock pickups. Will put up clips when I get the SD Quarter Pounder in there for comparison. I think the stock p'ups sound very good but the exposed pole pieces are getting on my nerves.

1. Installed All parts pickguard
2. De-glossed neck with steel wool
3. Will be putting in SD Quarter Pounder (as soon as I learn to solder
)
I'm working on sound clip now, but I have tofigure out how(even if I can) get a good sound through one of those soundtech lightsnakes
Hey all - just got my first fretless, but there's a problem - I think. Maybe some of you can help out...
The first "fret" on the E, A & D Strings has a horrible buzz.
If I move just a bit (like 1/4 step), the buzz goes away.
It's actually more than a buzz, it's a rattle, a very pronounced rattle. It's most pronounced on the A String.
I can also hear it at the 12th 'fret'.
I'm thinking it may be a problem with the nut, but that's just a guess.
I don't know enough about basses to start messing with the truss rod, or the setup, but any suggestions would be welcomed.
So far, I've raised and lowered both pickups - no results
I've raised/lowered the saddles. Nothing.
I probably need to get it setup, but I want to know if there's an issue that requires me to return it to Rondo before I go and pay for a setup.
I mean, other than that rattle, this is a beautiful bass and it sounds really good..even when I'm playing it.

The truss needs to be loosened just a smidge. It's tightened to the point that the neck is bowed enough keep the strings against the neck even in the first fret. The only point of contact should be at your finger, but the noise comes from touching the fingerboard elsewhere. On a fretted like this, you'd be hearing fretbuzz.
If you hear it at the 12th fret too, check the saddles on the bridge to make sure they are raised as appropriate. If they lay flat and the hex screws/twisty/tighty things are loose, they'll vibrate.
Just needs a setup.

here is my modded sx. it came to me as a geddy V replica. mods include:
new pickguard
badass v bridge (switched to black from chrome)
audere preamp
hipshot ultralites (switched to flat black from chrome)
new pickups will be added soon and a new nut will be added as well. i'll make some sound clips then.

Note: after installation of the duncan sjb bridge pickup you have to modify the pickguard, the neck pickup fits with no modification. I just used a file set.
With regular white PG:
seems to be a grounding issue after i upgraded to fender 62 reissue 500K pots so far since when i touch the control panel a lot of noise disappears.
Work needed:
-The aluminum pickguard will be going to the machine shop to make to thin it down. Engraving something else i think and inking it red.
-The pots needs to me rewired. (the Duncan SJB's came with super long wires, should i shorten them?)
-The neck needs to be drilled. Waiting for nut, hipshot string tree retainer (its black) and Gotoh Tuners.
