Wow, even in it's poorly Alembic-ized state I would have paid over $200 for it. The neck could have sheared off on the way home and I'd still get my money back in parts.

Yeah, a couple more people have said Starfire and, while I’m sure there is, I can’t think of a good reason to alter a Guild headstock like that. However, if you got a hold of a “good ‘un” I can think of good reason to install some great pickups on a decent German bass.

It's not a "good" reason, but pretty clearly some Dead-Head wanted their Starfire to look like Phil's.

Yeah, that was a real Guild Starfire bass that has had its nose cut off its head. The wood (that would normally be under a black headstock veneer with the Guild inlays in it) is correct and so are the curves of the sides, the nut, the tuners, etc. Crazy steal at $200. As others have mentioned, one of those pickups alone is worth $300+ easily if it's an original, functional Hagstrom Bisonic. Even if you were only able to save the bridge and 2 pickups, that would be worth at least $750 in value right there. Body would certainly be salvageable though if you made a replacement control plate out of some nice wood... and if the neck still plays... the headstock can be tolerated! Man, this is the kind of thing I wish I'd just come across at a yardsale or pawn shop.
