Double Bass Eurosonic ultra-light ??

When I used to use these, I roughed up the bowed part of the string with some light sandpaper and it really helped the bow/rosin grab the string.

Man, I really like these strings. In an amplified jazz quintet in big halls, I've had trouble communicating the pulse at times in the past, particularly on borrowed basses with high-tension strings on them. With the Eurosonics on, the hump flies out of the bass - they're so easy to play, have a great fundamental and interesting tone, with a huge dynamic and timbral range. When you pop out an accent on these, it really pops out. Can't say enough about them... I also found that it's easier to get a good bow sound near the bridge. I've always preferred French bow for that reason - the extension of the fingers brings a lower bow path, nearer the bridge. The Eurosonics tolerate that bow path well, and it's easier to start the note there.

Hey Jon--are you using the "ultra lights" or the "lights" on your tour? Are these strings thin enough to fit through the nut and bridge slots of the provided basses without needing any widening of the slots?
