Double Bass Evah Pirazzi strings megathread part II

Weird, huh? The Evahs on my bass and to my hands end up with a very stiff feel right at the front of the note. Powerful, deep, and thunderous. The Spiro mittels, by comparison, feel like butter. I can't explain it, it just is. I wonder if, besides the bass itself, there's some interaction with preferred string height. Just out of curiosity, where do you keep your heights?
Drurb, i really don't have the know how or tools to make a accurate measurement. I don't have my bass handy to see how many threads are showing on my full circle pickup, but if i remember correctly it's 3 threads. Not sure if that gives you a idea or not. I definately have some space between the foot and the wheel.
A metric ruler will do. I was curious about the height from the bridge-end of board to the bottom of the string. Some would argue that the relevant height is from the bridge-end of the board to the middle of the diameter of the string. Either way.
For either method:
Do you hold the ruler parallel to the ribs? (Gives different numbers for the bass or treble side of the string).
Or is the idea to hold the ruler radially into the fingerboard curve?
How's the tension of the Evah Weichs compared to Spirocore Weichs? Are the Evah weichs a lot more tense than the Spiro Weichs? Are they closer to Spiro Mittels tension than Spiro Weichs tension?
The latter-- I measure the distance off the fingerboard. Yes, if I were using a ruler, I'd measure radially off of it. A caliper is even better but I'm not sure anyone really needs to know string heights to that accuracy.
The Evah regular has theorically less tension than spiro mittel. But they did feel to me stiffer on my left hand and loser on my right hand. I have a 7/8 bas and I know that its not the same feeling on every bass.
Can anyone that has had experience going from Spiro Weichs to Evah Weichs please tell me the difference in tension and gauge? Thanks!
I read some old posts and already figured that the Evah Weichs are very similar to Spiro Mittels gauge wise. I'd like to know if they are closer to Spiro weichs than Spiro Mittels in tension, maybe I'll be comfortable lowering the bridge with the Evah Weichs (I have Spiro Weichs at a medium height now).
Evah W tension feels a bit less than Spiro M's to me. It really depends on the response of your bass though.

5 days ago i put a set of solo's on at orchestra pitch.
playing mostly swing oriented stuff.
sound and feel good acoustically.
arco is easy.
i did have a set of ep regulars on my bass a couple of sets ago, so i'm familiar with them.
these feel mostly the same but with a little less tension.
perhaps a little less sustain as well.
it took me awhile using EP regulars to get a good amp sound.
(probably more like getting used to the amp sound)
so far these are a little challenging as well in that regard.
i think these would really sing at their intended solo tuning.
i'm coming from a set of animas, so i think another week or so to get acclimated to these again.
ya know..... in writing this i realize how much i miss me some guts....

I used the EP solos at orchestra pitch for a while. Sounded good but I found them tough to play in tune in thumb position. Not sure why.
bought a Evah G orch. and put it on to replace the spiro G i had just put on with a new set of spiros and wow right out the package what a great top string. I immediately had to quell my desire to buy the rest of the set. Then I meditated on not buying the rest of the set but my knee started bouncing and my ear itched.
Now I am in therapy to try and help me not buy the rest of the set and that is going pretty well but it has cost me about 10 sets worth...

I had olivs on my bass and loved them, then tried a set of evahs and Im sold, they make my bass sound like a unicorn surfing a thunder cloud.
