Ever hate strings so much you want them off right away?

D'Addario halfrounds- tried them on different types of basses, no bottom, no mids, just 'dead'- gave 'em away to someone that tried them on an a/e bass, and liked them.
Haven't found anything that a Chrome 'B' sounds any good on- other s/s 'B's, yes.
Been giving all the Chromes away, also- May try to match an old nickel round 'B' with a set, tho.
But there are nickels, s/s, compressed, tapes, and flats that I like and use.

Just a thought to anyone hanging on to sets they didn't care for, OR instead of cutting them to pieces on principle, perhaps you would consider this worthy cause??

I would think this would be an excellent way to pay it forward, and feel good about an otherwise less than optimal purchase???? No?

They are no longer taking string donations. They haven't done anything in almost a year now.

Donating strings to those that cannot afford or don't have access to them is a great idea,
even used or miss-matched strings are one thing,
but I wouldn't send them strings that'll eat of their frets and nuts...

Any Elixir strings.

The set I tried barely made it out of the box. They gave my fingers a greasy feeling. I ended up spending my money on a set of DRs and sold the Elixirs to a friend at a reduced price.

Others that suck are (maybe were) cryogenically frozen strings. Cant remember who had them. Lasted a set and died.

Never with a bass--but I did with guitar--I bought some stainless steel ones, that just felt awful.
Also the first time I tired coated strings.
And I also tried some ground strings as well.

All awful

As for individual strings, I once tried a 8 for my high e (Guitar) and it was awful)
I also tried an unwound 24 for a D string on a guitar
That had horrible tone.

The only strings I could not stand were Sit silencers. Cheese grater? More like a bastard file.

interesting, I wonder if it could be how they react with the pups or bass. I strung mine on a dean (probably edge but dont know for sure yet). That bass is really mid heavy to begin with. I recorded with them and even with a scooped eq pre it was a ton of mid with not as much high or low across a spectrum analyzer. Could be ears too though. I normally use blue steels and I figured the dr's would be as bright or maybe brighter (more mid scooped) but I didnt find that to be the case on that bass in that guage (medium lights) 45 to 100 or so I think

DR Neons - Got a set of these as a promotion and they sat around the house for weeks.

Finally, we were doing a Halloween show, and I figured they would be good for a fun look.

I was wearing bright orange. So, why not have day-glo green strings?

AWFUL!! Zero sound! And they felt like they were covered in electric tape. Took them off the next night and went back to Rotosounds.

Incidentally, I recently stopped using Rotosounds and started using Dunlop.....
