Ever hate strings so much you want them off right away?

Rotosounds RS66... Heresy, I l know
Ditto.
Strings that I also hated right off the bat were:
-Rotosound's 88 nylon tapes (which nearly turned me off nylons because they were my first set of them).
-D'Addario phosphor-bronze acoustic bass strings. Thank goodness for nylon tapes.

yes, I tried a set of D'Addario half-round and I hated the feel so much that even if it costed 35$ I ditched the set and put back what I had.
Yes, especially when for only 6 dollars more you can get a good set of Slinkys or Boomers, etc...put down the latte, pick up decent strings.
Once tried DR low riders , I think the tone was ok just were very stiff tension wise and were really hard for me to play. They lasted about an hour and off they came. It was on a MIM Fender P bass. DR hi beams on the same bass sounded very good to me.
Every time I try D'Addario or receive a bass strung with them, I remove them with wire cutters just out of principle. Particularly Chromes. Hell, I won't even post new ones the the classifieds if I am unfortunate enough to somehow wind up with a pack. I'll just take them out and cut them to pieces. Can you tell I don't like D'Addario's?

By FAR Cobalts are the most horrible excuse for a string I've ever tried. Rough as sandpaper, finger noise to the extreme, all top end and no range. Only had them on for a couple of hours and when I went to take them off there was a pile of brass filings around the brass nut on my bass. I'd imagine they would very quickly destroy non stainless frets.
Nylons. Dirty; Filthy, Nasty Nylons.

Yup. Most new basses come strung with nickels. I pull them off before I even play the bass. It saves me from having to break out the Gojo and wash the black off my fingers. Hate nickel!!!
Yes. I tried Dean Markely "Blue Steel" strings years ago. Lord they were awful. I put them on, played the bass for ~15 minutes and took them off. The felt bad - like hte string wire had an abrasvie on it, sounded like old roundwounds. Just awful. But usually, if I get cheap strings, I know that they'll be okay for at least a week or so - I like DRs because they sound and last.
Yup, tapewounds. They make every bass they're on feel like a cheap toy, tension is too low and they're clacky.
back in 04/05 i picked up a TBC jazz that was the rage of the nanosecond, & ordered a set of SIT Silencers after reading about em on here.
got em in, strung em up,,, ABSOLUTELY HATED em
hated the tone,, but more than that,, i absolutely hated how they felt under the finger tips
so much so,, i took a pair of side cutters & cut em down by the ball end & threw em in the trash

For me, half rounds came off pretty quick.
Last year i put a Rotosound RS66 E string on (as the first for the entire set i wanted to install).
After 10 minutes of testing i took it off, and went for the usual Rotosound nickels ........

See, this is why I don't have much faith in reported sonic differences between strings - or amps, or basses, for that matter. My only complaint with high beams is just the opposite, I need to crank the mids on my LTD just a tad because they sound too scooped to me. Ears are all different, I guess.
The only strings I could not stand were Sit silencers. Cheese grater? More like a bastard file.
Thanks, I thought it was just me. Every time I post how Cobalts left a pile of brass filings on my fretboard, the EB lovers here tell me I'm nuts. Glad I'm not nuts!
