My first attempt of flats 8 yes ago. They came off 2 days later...ripped the heck out of my fingers..felt like razor wire.

I have been using Fender Flats ever since.

I'm actually surprised myself about this but DR Lo-Riders. I didn't want them off Immediately but after I played a gig the next day they just didn't have the depth or punch I was looking for. (My Rotos did)

Was a SS DR Lo-Rider fan for years until I heard how dead and dull an open E sounded(and the other strings too) compared to Prosteels, SS Rotosounds, or even nickel Rotosounds(which are way more aggressive and piano-like, but also warm like the DR's).

Yes, twice actually for opposite reasons:

Rotosound Swing Bass 66 - total finger shredders, completely destroyed my calluses. Must be murder on frets as well, but overly bright and aggressive for my taste. Much prefer DR Lo Riders for aggressive tone that doesn't destroy my hands.

Labella Rx Stainless - dead strings....D.E.A.D. None of the expected characteristics of stainless rounds. Couldn't get them off my Jazz fast enough. The simply named Labella Stainless, formerly known as HRS, strings are better in every way as far as I'm concerned.

Same here, LaBella RX. Total midrange absence. Not dead. Had 'zing' but not any real brightness just 'thud'. Used em for a couple weeks while preparing to re-EQ everything in my chain. Terrible.

Yes long ago I purchase some brand of Black tape wound string (can't remember the brand??????) which actually friction burned my finger tips fast sliding up the fret board! they came off the same day

All I got was brittle, top-end clack and thwunk, and friction burns to my fingertip when I slid up an octave.

Fender Flats. got them once as a stopgap until I could get my favorite GHS strings, I could hardly wait to get them off.

Yes ... can't remember the brand now, it was years ago, but I tried some stainless roundwounds that were incredibly rough and grippy on the fingers, played them for just a few minutes and they took skin off my fingertips. Felt like they where wrapped in sandpaper. Those came off in a hurry.

Fender tapewounds (too thick and sounded too much like rounds covered in tape for me), TI Jazz Flats (although due to the enthusiastic advice of their fans, I kept them on for 4 months in an attempt to bond with them and I never did).

Recently bought some Hartke Lights, $10 a set,thought can't be THAT bad.

Yes, they are THAT bad, but,$10 for a set of emergency spares is OK

DR Black Beauties - I got a set to put on my Sabre. They stayed on for about 5 minutes, as they caused unbelievable hum.
