Ever needed the toilet during a show?

Well, have you even been bursting to go during a show? Ever asked the drummer to extend his solo so you could nip to the john? Ever taken a leak behind your amp in abscene of a toilet? Ever felt a queer rumbling in your bowels in the second mintue of a 20 mintue instrumental?

I've had a couple of "sweater" moments, moments where I'm standing on stage, cursing that Kebab last night, wishing the song would end so I can dash to the bog. I'm sure I fluffed parts to as my insides churned, though I was too distracted to care!

So, anyone else had any horror stories?

I walked off stage half way through a set to go to the toilet - bass and all. Walked upto the urinal with the bass swung over my back ("were you not just on stage?" the guy beside me asked). If looks could kill, I'd be dead and buried with the looks I was getting off the rest of the band on my return.

On a slightly off-topic, I remember trying back in 1993 to do an Adam Clayton and smoke on stage while playing (before they banned it!!). Within 30 seconds into the first song, the smoke was wafting right into my eyes, and the guitarist brother had to do a quick recovery for me while hopping up on stage, took the cigarette out of my mouth hopped back into the audience and smoked it himself. From trying to looking cool to looking like I was crying - hardly a good career move. If Mr. Clayton's reading this - how do you do it?

Copied and pasted from an old thread

This is a story of from a band I was in called Smokin Tweed. We were playing once in Breckenridge Colorado, during their pub crawl on Saint Patty's day. The bar we were playing in was the last bar on the pub crawl, so needless to say, we had a bunch of blitzed people.
We got a free meal that day, and i got some nasty nachos that disagreed with me. During the middle of a set, I felt a rumbling in my bowels. I tried to hold, but couldn't. I was getting sick. I looked at the guitar player, put my bass down and went toward the bathroom. The men's room was occupied, so I went into the ladies room and dropped a load like nobody's business. I was in there for a while, and I heard some girls pounding on the door saying "This is the ladies room!" I didn't care I had important business to do. However, I did feel sorry for the gal that came in after me (the bathroom had no windows or ventilation ).
After I was done, I walked out and got back on stage midsong. I was wiped and I had to sit on a stool to finish the tune. The crowd cheered me as a got back on stage. I guess the guitar player told them I was partying to hard (much nicer thing to say, than I got sick on the food and had to take a dump). The crowd tought I was puking in the bathroom and they were cheering me on for getting back on stage and playing.

Smoke got into my face too much as well. What I do is hold my cig between my index and middle fingers, and pluck with my ring finger. I take puffs when the music allows me too, or find breaks in a song that let me switch from mouth to hand and vice versa. Works out much better for me that way.

Not myself. But did a gig here in chicago at the Riv. The drummer was slamming the drums like hell and left no space inbetween songs, ushered us into each one as quickly as possible. Worked great for the set as we were metal and the momentum was like a steamroller.

I asked him after wards what happened, why he was rushing? He said the whole time he was on his stool he had to take a monster crap, like a turtle head popping out if you will. I didn't see him run off stage the second the last song ended.
