everyones selling their wd800?

Honestly, I’ve owned and played the WD800, D800+ and the TT800. ALL are killer amps.
I just ordered the 800D because my favorite is the Boogie channel of the TT. Having said that, the D800+ is always something I revisit and go back to (like home).

No joke and no brown nosing, Mesa seems to be the only company that cares about bassists and keeps giving us great choices! They haven’t had a “miss” yet.

Other companies have solid offerings but they seem to be limited to one or 2 tricks and they’ve all had some less than stellar detours.

Not selling the WD or my old D800 because I don't need or want a third great Mesa amp. I don't even want to hear demos of the new one. I don't want to look at pictures of it, and I dont care to see its six sexy symmetrically laid out knobs. I don't want to know anything about it and I refuse to click a thread with 800D in the title.

No, not selling my WD800 anytime soon, if ever….

Since I started using IEMs about 15 years ago, the amplifier has become secondary in my playing rig. The amplifier is there for the benefit of the other band members. I don’t depend on it too much.

However, it must sound good, of course, at low volume as well as kick-a$$ levels on larger stages. That’s how the guys and the leader like it.

Plus, at 67 y.o and thankful for each gig, and not really sure how much longer I’ll want to do this, I can’t justify another amp purchase.

However, I gotta admit, that could change when the next run of 800Ds hit the stores in a few weeks.

And I can think of a rehearsal studio that could use a WD800 and a single Subway 115 when, errrr, if I do decide to get an 800D….😁

First the D800 (bought pre release)
WD800 one of the first 100
Desired a bit more grit, and 2 Channels so a few months ago, traded for a TT.

Now what do you do?
Recreate my favorite HEFTY MEATY ROCK CRUSHING AMP!!!
The 400+ auugh

+1, the Boogie channel was where I stayed 99% of the time on my TT, so since there's more of that 400+ flavor on the 800D, I jumped on it and am glad I did - it's exactly what I was looking for.

Not a WD, but shameless plug that I do have my TT listed here to fund that purchase :)

I think you have to keep in mind how rabid the Mesa fanbase is on this forum and kind of temper your expectations and take the hype with a grain of salt. The gear is great (I own/gig a TT + 115 rig) but people on here can be a little overzealous and hyperbolic when it comes to the company. My advice would be to try the amps and cabs yourself and ignore the hype on the forum. You may find that they work for you, as I did, or you may come away feeling like something else would be better for your uses.

As cool as the 800D is. The only way one is coming into my household is by way of my Sweetwater CC. Never a sale of the beloved WD as I like the hands-on trickery of the WD. I like thinking I have a part in the decision-making of the overall sound by manipulating the damping, HPF, passive mid, para mids. At least that is what I tell myself 😊

I do wanna try one, 800D, just to see Andy’s further development of the line. This sounds like a new development phase in class d power amp usage.
