Smashing Pumpkins - "Siamese Dream." Not sure Corgan agrees, but this to me is by far their best work.

This is the only album I've ever had to buy the CD twice. Because I wore out the first one. Radiohead's The Bends is right up there as well.

Not saying CTA and many of their other albums aren't amazing. Just saying II is the best of their catalog.

Great thread. I thought BTO II was better than the first Bachman Turner Overdrive LP. Let It Ride and Takin' Care Of Business were both hits from the second album.

ADELE's first album 18 was successful and she won 2 Grammys, but 21 was at a whole new level as her voice had developed, I had vaguely remembered her on the Grammys show with 18, but a lot of people had never heard of her until 21 really got rolling.

Depending on who you ask, some might say Veruca Salt's second album "Eight Arms to Hold You" is better than their "American Thighs" debut.

Regardless, both are fantastic albums and I sometimes go back and forth.

(But, as I said on the first page, the one that immediately came to mind was "Demanufacture" by Fear Factory).

I'll respectfully counter with Imperial Bedroom, but then again they're two quite different animals.

Ugh. Not sure I completely agree. I feel like DM and WTSMG could have been released as a double album because of how consistent and strong the songs are from both albums. I will say that most everything after that starting dropping off considerably to me.

Rainbow Rising. I know the bass is not prominent on the record, but style-wise it is a true evolution from their first record. It also is often cited as the first prog-metal record for its overall style, its subject matter (tarot, wizards, etc), and its dueling guitar-synth solos.

Technically it was their 3rd album, but since the 2nd one was kinda live which mostly consisted of tracks from 1st album, it could be omitted.

I was about to say Rio as well. That is the pinnacle of DD and Taylors best basslines by far! Although he was super strong on their debut as well.
