"Explosive Ibanez" Takes Flight

I've used that dye on unfretted ebony boards before fretting, and on ebony bridges before gluing them on, you shouldn't have a problem with the dye on a fretted board. It's Fiebing's oil-based leather dye, and it will soak into the wood right up to the frets. If the frets get discolored then go over the neck with #0000 steel wool when it's dry.

Are you high? :D I think defretting the neck, applying ebony dye, and refretting it would be cheaper than LEDs. Keep in mind that this is a $300 bass. :smug:

I don't see the need to defret. I put ebony "dye" on mine. It's actually a finish. However, if you want it to look perfect right up to the frets then yeah..... defret.

LED's in the neck would be cool. Remove the fretboard, put the wiring in the channel, and LED's in place of the inlays. $50 if you were using good stuff. It is a little high, but nonetheless, that doesn't look like $300 dollar bass anymore haha, more like $500+.

yo dawg i hurd you liek things that will always be dope and in fashion so i taped LEDs to the side of your fret board so you can see what you shred in pitch black, and i know you are freakin nutz over teh ridiquelos inlayz so i got dem stikerz off ebay for yo to reallie enjoi your fret board..

LOL!!

I think you just need to stick with the plan and get it done quickly....like now :D

Well he still needs to do more clear coats, so while the coats are drying he could apply the ebony dye. so technically it wouldn't take longer at all.

Hey look! I found a pic of me and LGT on vacation. LMAO! I was questioning if a loin cloth would look good on me, but it looks like it paid off!
