A wonderful trio of Romanian-made instruments. Man, I'm proud. Half my rig is romanian-made, too.

Custom Grosmann basses: 6 string 34" mahogany body, wenge neck & fretboard, fretted (it wasn't made for me though), and an 8 string (C# - C) fretless, 36", maple and padouk neck thru with maple body and wenge fingerboard with maple inlays. The nut is extra tight (65mm), the neck is a custom profile, a lot like a classical guitar's, 16.5mm spacing at the bridge, the pups are 2 pairs of 5 string EMG-HZ's (they just sound good to me, I know most guys hate them) for added flexibility (and ease of replacement, should I decide I want something else). The 6 string is missing a pickguard (I have to make one) and a pot, but once it's complete it's going straight out the door. There's just no way I'm gonna touch it any more now that its big brother is here. And at 14+ pounds, it's really big! 'Twas 2 years in the making, too, due to logistical problems mostly, but it was worth the wait. I can't imagine playing basses that aren't fretless, 36" and have fewer than 7 strings.

Number, please?:D

Thanks! I designed the shape myself, and the builder carved it into the most comfortable bass I ever had. And I've been dreaming about block inlays since I first got into bass. Too bad it's so darn heavy, but that couldn't be helped. At least you can hear and feel al that maple in the tone. It's quite big too, it's considerably bigger than a jazz, and from what I read you'd like that too;).

Great thread, guys! Can I come play in your sandbox?

Stick Enterprises NS/Stick - 8 Strings (BEADGCFBb) - Walnut body - Moses Graphite neck - Split-channel EMG FT active pickups.

:D

Very nice NS Stick! The new half fretless version is pretty awesome too.

Thanks! I was GAS-ing pretty hard for the half-fretless, actually, but they're in R&D now and won't be producing any new ones for awhile.

Looking at this thread, though, I see there may be plenty of other options if I want to stick a fretless in my stable down the road. :p
