Thanks Ed(and I've had the Surine for about 10 years now).

I'll let Jauqo III-X handle that response ..... he's had that conversation many times before ....![]()
Not only is the SubContra bass unique, it also looks really beautiful![]()
Just a little question: how do you get the C# string to produce sound? C#0 is 17.32 Hz. This is below the lower frequency limit of human hearing (20 Hz AFAIK).
That really isn't hard as a lot of people think. The woods that I chose for the body, neck and fingerboards all helped. As well as the electronics. I asked Bil Bartolini to put a strong emphasis on the clarity of the open 17.32 C# string and the proper pre to balance things out. But Bill already knew what to do for the most part but when I mentioned 17 hz his ears perked up. And he nailed it. And 20hz may be the cut off point for some humans but not all.
Remember when so many players and listeners would complain about not being able to hear the now standard low B string?
If more people were using or listening to a C# string it would be easier to hear as time goes by.
And really with today's technology it was a breeze being able to dial the lower frequencies in.
I liked John Turner's explanation on one of those threads where he talked about how harmonics produced by a vibrating string are also integrated within the produced sound and that not all humans have a lower hearing threshold of 20 Hz. I figured those would be major points establishing the fact that a C#0 string actually works.
Another thing, though: can you use any effects on this bass?![]()
I mean are there any effects than can be used to affect such low frequencies?
That's pretty nice.
Thank you Jauqo! Thats an honor for me to hear coming from you sir!![]()
You're more than welcome.
It was refreshing to hear a 9 string bass played like what it is.
A bass guitar that happens to have 9 strings.

Very nice (tone, looks and playing)! That's a pretty big bass, which is cool for me to see .... I'm a big guy, too, and I get very uncomfortable playing smaller bodied basses
You planning on using this in a gigging situation? I'd love to hear it with a full band .....![]()

Is an Ibanez SR506 2010 edition good enough to join the extended range club?
Nothing fancy, just simple understated bass awesomeness. Also, mine is tuned EADGCF (although I will drop it down to EADGBE depending on the music I'm playing). Never had much use for the low B.
Sounds killer with an EHX Metal Muff. Great at metal shredding. Anyway, enough talk, heres teh nudes:
