Extended Range Bass (Club??) Thread

shoot, with the uber-buying power of the euro right now, now's the time to get a conklin, or any american boutique instrument. i know of numerous europeans that have conks - there's elros that has one of al caldwell's old hollowbody 9's, there was a french guy who used to be a member here who had a rocco prestia signature model, and i know of a few folks that have more standard groove tools and gtbd's in europe.

Where from? Cause import taxes over here impair my budget, in case I order one from the US... :hmm:

And John, I meant European e-stores don't carry them. At least not that I know of...

order one from bill :). like i said, the euro's very favorable conversion rate will make that a pleasurable experience, i think. (although i don't know what the tax/tarriffs and such would be on an instrument imported from the u.s.).

Import tax is close to 30% of the item's price, and along with the shipping costs the price rises way above my budget, so it's definitely a no-go, for now, at least. There are a lot of instruments over there in the US, that, considering the currency rates are at half the price of what they charge here. Especially in the classifieds! Ah well, live and let live... :)

what if you were to travel to the u.s. to pickup an instrument? would that be cost effective? you could probably bring a cheapie and leave it here.:ninja:

How about luthier's prices?

If you mean greek luthiers, I wouldn't trust them to construct a custom instrument for me. I don't mean to bash, there are luthiers who make really good basses, but nothing that would interest me, especially at the prices they go for. Apart from that, I don't really think they'd build an ERB (anything above six stringers, that is).

John, a ticket to the US = half a bass' price (maybe more)!

I know a dude by the name of Jorgos that works with the dudes that built my bass :D

I can hook you up :D (seriously, PM me if you want info on my ERB and how you could get yourself one).

That top floors me everytime I see it, unfeasibly nice.

It's made of real Cadbury chocolate. Used to be filled with that delicious cream they put in Cadbury Creme Eggs, but I sucked it all out of the output jack long ago :(

My Stambaugh 6:

With my Ibanez SR506 (not that I've even really laid a finger on it since getting my Stambaugh, haha):

Count me in.

Hey sei24bass what is the string spacing on your 8 at the bridge?

Wow this thread has taken off in the last few days. Sorry for the delay in responding, but the string spacing is 17mm at the bridge.

BigCheeto, thanks for the comment about the SEI 8. I am very interested in how your Bee 9 will look...very nice looking top so far!
