Double Bass Extension on a Juzek?

Funny timing... I JUST had Dennis Roy in Boston put an extension on my Juzek; after wanting to do it for a long time, but thinking that putting an extension on a Juzek was a bit odd (not a big "orchestra" bass, kind of a humble instrument, etc.). The deciding factors for me were: a) I like the bass a lot and have no desire to replace it, b) I DO tune the low string to D as a matter or course, and the bass projects well in this range, and c) its not all about volume; chamber music has low notes too! Anyway the Juzek sounds great with the extension, the C comes through loud and clear. Go for it!

If the bass makes a solid Db and C note on the bottom, it is worth it. If not, either get the top regraduatede until it does or get another bass for C extension work. Good luck !!
