So to put an end to the argument here.
A band meeting last night brought up many other issues, not the least of which was my concern about shouldering the majority of the work.
Let's go back a couple years, yes, it's necessary to complete the story. Our singer told us he would only be able to play a few times per year since he was coaching his daughter's basketball team in the winter and softall team in the summer. In response to that, the drummer started playing with another local country band to fill his time. So I hooked up with a guitarist and we formed what became our 3 pc group, which has been on a nice upward curve over the last year.
Now, singer's daughter is done with basketball and he wants to "up" the gig activity, apparently assuming we would wait around for him to have time to gig again. The drummer has no interest in leaving the other band and I have no intention of leaving the 3 pc that I am more fond of.
So after all the deliberation it was grudgingly decided to finish out the last 3 gigs and wind up the group. I say grudgingly because the singer is not happy about it. Let me say this, I'm not holding a grudge against him for taking the time out to coach his kid like he did, we all make decisions based on our priorities. But, by the same token he should not hold any grudge against the fact that some of the rest of us made decisions to continue gigging more regularly.
It is what it is, and my dilemma became secondary to all the rest of the discussions.
