Extra sensory freaky stuff?

My parents have told me a story about once when they were staying over the night in a small cottage. Dad went up from the bed in the middle of the night for some reason and my mother woke up and asked "what are you doing up already? The clock's just 20 past 4. There was no clock nearby that she could have checked the time from, but another one that showed the clock indeed was 4.20 am. She has told me that was about the freakiest experience she'd had...

Personally, I often wake up just before the alarm clock rings, especially if I've gone to sleep at regular times the last few days. However, I don't see anything that freaky in this.

your body gets used to waking at the same time every day. ever wake up at 6 on the weekend? ive been waking up at 5:58-5:59 for years.

+1
Case in point... It's Saturday morning, almost 8:00am...I've been up for a couple of hours already. And on workdays, my alarm clock is typically set at 5:00am, so that I can hit the gym before work; I wake up every morning between 4:55-4:58. It always makes me angry as I feel Ive been cheated out of those last minutes of precious sleep. But once my eyes open, I'm awake. No sense in even trying to get back to sleep. Once you get into a routine, your body learns what to do and it takes over.

No alarm clock here, I usually wake up when the dogs start arguing outside my bedroom door. Sometimes I wake up right before the first growl or bark

I also dream about what I'm going to do the next day, usually what I'm going to work on in the shop. Quite often it replays in reality as if it was a video tape. THAT freaks me out!!

The same thing used to happen the night before I would go deer hunting in NY. Everything, every tree, every leaf, every rock along the path I dreamed the night before.

That's when I started wearing my foil hat :D

Mere coincidences!

If there was anything to ESP, Dionne Warwick and the Psychic Friends Network would never have to advertise. They would just "know" who wants a reading and would call THEM to give it to them. The PFN should have no need for their psychics to be sitting by the phone waiting for people to call!

:hiding:

The human body has an internal clock, theres nothing strange or out of the ordinary about your subconscious gaining some extra capacities as far as time telling goes when you're right out of bed.

I can wake up at whatever time I want, as long as I look at the clock when I lay down to sleep. I think I just hate the sound of the alarm so much that I will wake just before it goes off. I don't depend on this if I really need to get up at a certain hour, but it's been pretty consistent my whole adult life. I wouldn't call it anything special or freaky, though.

It's also possible that you check the clock that's visible from the bed while you're asleep.

My girlfriend does stuff like this all the time - if I come to bed way later, when she's sleeping soundly, she might open her eyes, say something and then just drop back to sleep. When I ask if I woke her up, on the following morning, she's just "no, I didn't even notice you coming to bed, why?".
