Someone asked

Anyone run their Barbershop at 18v?

I recently learned 18v was possible with the Barbershop! (albeit with less distortion/drive.) I use this pedal for an always-on mild OD, so I barely had the drive turned up anyways. To get a similar sound at 18v I boosted the gain from just barely on to around 12:00 on the dial, and dropped down the volume knob to compensate (I don’t use the sag feature).

Just did my first couple gigs this way and it works even better for my mild OD tube saturation goal than it did at 9v. It’s like I get a bit more of the tubey harmonic saturation without any additional hair/dirt/OD.

edit to add I mostly use passive P basses, but could see this 18v feature making the Barbershop more useable for hotter active bass users.

Hi Fairfield guys. Iv read HEAPS of positive posts about Barbershop. My question is.. can a Barbershop give an emulation of a valve Output stage? I'm thinking it placed last before a SS power stage, set low or 0 gain, but (hopefully) sag used to 'valve' up the ss output. I have a valve pre amp I'm happy with(2note RevoltBass), and a few good valve "type" pedals (Currently a Origin dcx bass, DG VMT & Alfa Omega) , but none of those have been able to "do the output thing". Other than the Barbershop, iv been looking at JPTR Jive, or S/gold fx BetaV..
Any thoughts, ideas, b much appreciated

Isn’t the Revolt bass an amp sim pedal?
