Faital Pro 15PR400 15 " speaker?

Looking to use some older single 15 cabs I have around and would like to do a neo 15 preferably 4 ohms, efficient and full range(for a woofer). Found this Faital 15" and it seems to have everything I'm looking for on paper. Matches up with my cab volume and porting (with my limited winisd knowledge and can't get the driver loaded for some reason:mad:).

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this driver or Faital in general. Seems the general consensus is Eminence makes something for everyone but this Faital is impressive on paper.

I've had great results using a pair of B&C 15NW100's in my DIY homebrew.

To be honest, I probably would've just gone with the 3015LF like most other people had I not run across a SMOKIN' deal on the B&C's. But I wouldn't trade them for anything now that I have heard them first hand. :) Best of luck to you.

Looked at some B&C's and have generally heard good things about them. Seem pricey though. Guess I'll have to wait for my own smokin deal.

Last time I checked Faital drivers were significantly more expensive than B&C. Where all have you been checking for prices?

And the pair of 15NW100's in 3.5ft^3 ported and tuned to 38Hz is BEASTLY!! I play both 4 and 5 string and it handles everything I've thrown at it.

Or you could go with a 3015 because it's great, and not worry about having something different for the sake of being different. The 3015 loading phenomenon is so rare anywhere except Talkbass that your cab will be a unique snowflake in the world of bass cabinets.

While I'm sure it sounds great it takes both 15NW100s to match up with what one 3015LF would put out due to the sensitivity difference. So you've got 600 dollars worth of drivers to do the job a single 130 dollar driver would do.

Similarly, you could be using 3012LFs at 150 bucks apiece which would do nearly the same job in 2.5 cubic feet instead of 3.5. (within 1.5-2db or so).

I can't speak to the deal you got, but at retail price those 15NW100s are no bargain. Hell, at half retail price, still no bargain. And they weigh over twice what a 3015Lf does, and almost 3x what a 3012Lf does.

Snow flakes aside... :hiding: it's not about being different (though maybe I worded it that way in the original post?)it's about having the best sounding driver. Just asking if anyone knew about these Faital drivers...

I know the 3015 is great wasn't sure if there was something different or better.

The deal was worth it rpsands. The pair of 15NW100's cost me less than a single 3015LF would've. Otherwise, I'd be running the Eminence driver. I can't argue with any points you made.

However, since the OP asked about options other than the 3015 I felt obliged to share my experience. You know?

That's a good deal :) They will absolutely have more maximum output than a single 3015LF, so as long as you're ok with the weight and the space that's cool.

By all means, share away. I wasn't saying you shouldn't, just pointing out the negatives of the option :)

It has been my observation that people sometimes reference model 3015 LF without mentioning the LF.?

My question: are dual 3015 LF's generally perceived to sound better than non LF 3015's? I know that cab dimensions and porting come into play, but I'm wondering if there is a clear winner in the experiences of those who've tried both, or even one of each (I own 2x115 cabs, mostly playing through one at a time, two for "bigger rooms")

"Sound better" is all relative. I prefer the 3015LF, but only with a midrange driver. Below the midrange crossover frequency, "tone" is a negligible concern to me, so the midrange driver handles more of the tone.

For non-midrange cabs, I would not even consider a 3015LF unless you had a low pass crossover to get rid of its nasty upper mids.

The no LF 3015's are more of a full range speaker, whereas the LF models act more like a sub.

Running just a 3015LF, or a pair in a 2X15 will leave a huge hole in the upper mids/highs. They are meant to be run with a dedicated mid driver.

Both the 3015 and 3015LF have poor off-axis response above 1.5kHz, as do all fifteens. The 3015 goes higher on-axis, but it's a moot point when 90% of the audience isn't on-axis.

Ok, as it turns out, I generally use only one 8 ohm cab at a time (front-ported 3015 non LF) with my 300 watt all-tube bass head. I have another matching cab but tend to bogart the stage in most rooms when using both. The cab I've been using at our practice space and for gigs sounds so over-driven lately that it's practically become a regular distraction, what with all the nasty sputtering plus sound guys jumping onstage to try their best to help. Also what does that loud hum mean, that we just noticed before heading out to the show this last Saturday? That was a first; after almost a week of no use.

PLEASE, SOMEONE! Is there not a single 15 inch driver out there that can be pushed hard without farting out... And that also sounds solid/musical/wonderful? I have not been impressed with the 3015's thus far, even from the beginning (mid winter 2010), and in spite of all the 3015 lovin' here on talkbass.

Additional info:
83' fender p-bass with Labella "1954" flats
Mostly fingers down and with fairly heavy attack.
6 piece band that plays country funk through punkish classic rock -- probably pretty loud for a middle-aged band.
2 guitars, pedal steel, multi instrumentalist, loud but focused drummer

I have had one cab with the 3015 and you could really hammer it with out farting out. when it comes to any speaker if the cab is not ported or tuned properly you can have a lot of problems. The main reason I didn't go with the 3015 is the nasty frequency bump between 1 and 3k. I wanted single 15's and that was it.

I have messed with a few cabs and win-isd and have come to a happy place with these Faital pro speakers. I have pushed one and a pair pretty hard with 5 strings with no problems except maybe the strong breeze that comes from the speaker ports.

Now I certainly don't have near the knowledge of several people on this web site but to me, my band mates and several sound people I have worked with they all love my cabs. Maybe it because they look beat up but they've got it where it counts.

Were I in your shoes I'd measure my cabs, download win isd and plug in some speakers to see what you come up with.

You can call the guys at US Speaker too. They're pretty helpful.
