It is absolutely authentic, but not particularly rare. A genuine imitation Fender. Many real fake parts assembled to look vaguely Fenderish.

This is defintely genuine... a genuine fake. The serial number would've been about the easiest thing to replicate. It's just a cheap knockoff with a Fender decal.

Nope, those tuners are not correct for any Fender. You can put those on your list of incorrect parts.

The giveaway is the posts... the convex top and curved sides, these were never used on any Fender with the larger back plates like the ones in the picture. Should have straight posts with flat tops.

Wow, you have good eyes! I didn't even see that. Right, never a Fender item.

take a look at the bottom of the fretboard, where it sits above the body. That curve with the sharp corners doesn't look like any Fender fretboard I've ever seen.

So, in combination with the other dozen or more reasons given above... fake.

Those tuners are almost correct for an 80's Japanese Fender. That's it, though, and that isn't what this bass is anyway.

It's one of the worst fakes in TB history. Buy a real one -- USA, Mexico, or Japan, but buy a real one.
