j/j, p/j, j/m, or m/m , active or passive, it doesn't matter, they are all fantastic sounding!! And I ONLY select the Fat necks from mid 2000's!! Its all personal choice, I love the looks of Warwick Corvette and dislike the popular Fenders and bongos etc.
Some people have gone as far as taking their basses to a luther and had the necks thined down (basically sanding wood off) I wouldn't do it, but you could, or just trade for any year 2009 and up with slimmer neck profile. Ive never seen a pick guard cover like that? If you really dont like it yourself remove it, who cares about holes in the body..apparently road wear happens! If YOU love it , keep it. If YOU dont love it while alone in your bedroom, then trade off, life is too short to be uncomfortable especially while trying to enjoy your passion.

Has anyone ever asked Herr Wilfer what his thing is about anatomical bass design features? (Jon Liebman should have asked him about this long ago.) The first time I saw a Thumb, I said "hmmm". Then I saw a Corvette and said "OK, this is a bona fide fetish".

If I had a Corvette, I'd have Ron Jeremy sign it. If I had a Thumb, I'd sign it myself.

How about "fallen in love with a bow wow neck bass"?

Trying to encourage you.........some of us love chubby necks! A fat neck has little bearing on speed or movement. A fat neck, IMO is around .85" to 1.0 of an inch thick. I have a 1953 Fender P Bass with a .93" neck (LOVE IT!)

Give it a chance. Play it. See how ya feel a couple of months from now.

Chubby is beautiful.

Looks like the pick guard is the only issue.. The Vette is one of warwicks best lookin basses IMO.
Look at the thumb..or the dolphin.. or that other one I cant think of right now (not the buzzard, thats ones actually nice lookin). Even the streamer looks a little off somehow, not sure how, but it does. And none look right as a 4 string (IMO).

If you don't like it, get rid of it. Lifes too short. (way too short, it turns out).

My Corvette was just too dang heavy. :(

Not sure how anyone could think that a Warwick was ugly. The wood is gorgeous. I have two and I think they look infinitely better than my Fender Jazz. If you dig the sound, just take that stupid pick guard off of it. Problem solved.

The concert(s) (were there several?) where the Red Hot Chili Peppers had flamethrowing hats come to mind - nobody will notice a little ring of plastic on your bass if you head has a 3 foot flame coming out the top. I suggest you do likewise.
