Flea used an Ampeg SVT-2 while he was with Jane's Addiction because he needed more power..

Pretty much every bassist who was in a 90s pop punk band played a stingray before they got a custom P or J. Mark Hoppus and Mike Dirnt are the first 2 that come to mind.

Didn't know Dirnt played one? I always thought he went straight from a Gibson Grabber to a custom P?

It is a fantastic machine. I had one two years ago - a beautiful GC limited edition cherry burst ... but it was a 5 string and I couldn't deal with it. I tried. I did! But I knew I wanted one again one day - a 4 string. Really a top notch instrument. Right up there with my 08 Fender MIA pbass.

I've never seen mike dirnt with a Ray'. Roger from LTJ plays a sterling. Also, I remember seeing a video of mike herrea of mxpx saying his SR's are passive. I didn't know matt wong left rbf. He's a great player,

I wouldn't call Deacon a SR user. Sure he recorded "Another One Bites the Dust" with a SR and occasionally played a SR live, but he's essentially a P player.

Deacon's go-to was his original pbass from the early days of Queen but when he wanted 5 strings the MM got the call.
