Fav Album hardly anyone has heard

My album... I Mother Earth, Dig. If you're Canadian, you know them. If not, and you like hard rock, you need to get this album. Period.

I have that album and I'm not Canadian - found it at some record store blowout maybe 10-15 years ago (when did it come out?). Haven't listened to it in years...need to dig it up again, remember that it sounded very cool.

Three sheets to the wind - Idaho

Very very very nice indie/alt-rock with great songs and kind of an original sound to it. They played some kind of four-string guitars IIRC.

Not known to the general public but very well known to anyone into "rare groove" or the funk revival scene. The album that contains "Brothers On The Slide" is simply called "Cymande". They're not from Africa. The band formed in England and comprised Caribbean ex-patriots. Some very cool bass lines.

I have that album, and honestly, its not that great. There are 4 or 5 good songs, and all the other ones on there are just way to spacey and weird for me.

The Scabs - "Freebird" or "More Than a Feeling"

Unless you know who Bob Schneider is, or you're from Austin, you've probably not had the privilege of the Scabs, that's too bad.

I have been listening to them for years! Funny lyrics, tight band, not super special in my opinion. I just missed them last time I was in Austin. They really put on a show!

Another is the All Mighty Senators "Raw Power Live". They use to come to WVU quite often. Great show!

The Scabs are pretty goofy, but if you want something a little more "serious" Bob's solo stuff is pretty good, and he had a band before The Scabs called the Ugly Americans that were great!

I'm inclined to agree. My favourite tracks are their three best known: "Brothers On The Slide", "Bra" and "The Message".

Funny, this was one of the first albums I thought of, and it's been quoted like 3 times...

I worked in a music store in 93(?) when this dropped. Blew my mind. Tried to sell it anyone who would listen, but nobody would =) Pearl Jam and Sublime were taking off from here, and then cookie cutter grungeishness...this is one of my personal examples of how most great music goes unnaprecited...

One of my personal favorite recent examples is Invalid Link Removed. She plays sax and sings, and is simply amazing. She has a top notch band (often includes Nels Cline, Scott Amendola, with Todd Sickafoose on bass)...Seeing her play 8 years ago (prob. with Todd) inspired me to purchase my upright bass. Yet you look at Amazon reviews of her music...and, there are 1 or 2 total...sad...

I know she is "Jazz", but still....

I saw them open for Porcupine Tree a while ago in a tiny venue... they barely fit on the stage with all their gear... I was 4 feet from the stage... they melted my face off. Loudest concert I ever heard (well, except for Motorhead). Then PT came out and was even louder... terrible mistake not having hearing protection. Ears rang for 4 days.

Anyhow, good call... they were good. And nice guys, too, I spoke to one of them afterwards. He was hanging out by his bus on the sidewalk, just saying hi to everyone as they left.

I love that album too! Add their album "Scenery and Fish" to the list as well.
