Favorite "emotional" guitar solo

Aimee Mann's "Deathly", from the Magnolia soundtrack, has a solo that is simple, haunting, and at times blistering. It repeats after each chorus, getting bigger each time. So, so good. Makes my eyes well up. The credit for the solo(s) is shared by Michael Lockwood and Patrick Warren, though I have a feeling that Jon Brion had something to do with how amazing that solo is, as he produced the song.

I'm currently really digging the solo on that Fun song "Carry On" that's all over the radio (guitarist Jack Antonoff).

Another overlooked gem is "Carnival" from Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily album (guitarist Jennifer Turner).

My vote would be a version of "Landslide" by Smashing Pumpkins. I couldn't find it on YouTube though.

That got me thinking about SP, and I think the intro (and outro) solo from "Mayonaise" also fits with what you're talking about.

Edit: Honorable mention to "While my guitar gently weeps". Just love that one. And yes, it was Clapton, who I'm generally not a big fan of.
