I've never been a huge fan of Satriani and I know I'm probably in the minority here. That being said, there are a few songs of his that I do like. That song is just boring to me and his tone isn't that great IMHO but to each his own.

I've never been a huge fan of Satriani and I know I'm probably in the minority here. That being said, there are a few songs of his that I do like. That song is just boring to me and his tone isn't that great IMHO but to each his own.
I know this dates me, but...
John Cippolino's extended solo in the latter part of the song "The Fool" on Quicksilver Messenger Service's first album. It's the most expressive use of a wah pedal I have ever heard. It still gives me chills.

There are so many good ones to choose from. No Quarter and Comfortably Numbare probably two of my favorites.
One solo I always loved from a feeling standpoint, and fit so with the song, is Who Wants To Be Lonely, off Asylum, by KISS.

This is the top one for me. Unbelievable. (J. Mascis did a pretty credible version with Mike Watt, BTW.)
Great choices! However, Richard Lloyd played the solos on Elevation, and he and Verlaine split them on Marquee Moon. My favorite solos from that record are in Torn Curtain--I'm not sure who played them, though.
Very cool calls. I have a live version of Darkened Room that's just amazing! Sebastian doesn't sound great, but it's such a good version!
I was really into S.R. and i think that they've always had good solos on their ballads.
Supposed George Clinton got him to play the solo in "one take after George told mama's boy Eddie to imagine he'd been told his mother was dead and then found out it wasn't true."
While he was on acid. Maybe? Either way, yeah. Damn.
I heard that George took him in a room full of amplifiers and told him to PLay as though his mother had just died. then halfway through George came back in and told him to play like he was bringing her back to life.

I also love everything Malmsteen does. Ppl say he doesnt have any feel, but I feel it when he plays.
