Dunlops seem kind of in the middle, maybe leaning towards bright, to me. Not old school like GHS or La Bella, but not as bright as chromes.
I have Dunlop flats on my two Precision Basses and I say that they are "in the middle." They are very comfortable to play without being loose. They are not bright like Chromes are initially but not dark. For flat wound strings I would use Dunlop Flats and Labella Low Tension Flats which are in the same camp but develop more of a midrange bark with use. Both are great strings for anyone wanting to experiment with flat wounds who would otherwise use round wound strings.

So, the bass in my picture/icon has had the same TI flats for 20 YEARS. They are awesome and I will cry big alligator tears if and when one breaks! LOL!😂
They are my go-to flats. That said, I like GHS Precision Flats and LaBella Lo-Tension Flats and Ernie Ball Cobalts too.

This is a poll I answered in 3 seconds and probably could have answered in 1 second if I could read faster.

I greatly prefer EB Cobalt flats compared to any flats I’ve tried which are;
TI Jazz Flats
Chromes
Fender
Labella 760FM & FL

Not on the list I’ve tried
LaBella Olinto flats

I’ve finally decided the reason I prefer EB Cobalt Flats to all others is that they generally sound like broken in rounds with pronounced high mids, and continue to sound the same for a very long time, but if you roll off the tone knob, they sound like traditional flats. Since my first set of EB Cobalt flats (about 5 years ago), I’ve used my tone control more than all previous playing years combined.

Feel like medium tension flats.
Sound like broken-in rounds.
Sound like traditional flats with tone rolled off.

That’s about it.
