of electric players, I think Jason Becker is the all-time greatest.

His chops are insane but I find his sense of "music," the bigger concepts and ideas, to be of a higher quality.

A great lesson is to listen to his shred-stuff, his solo record, and then the album he played on with david lee roth.

On dave's album, he's doing what a pro does. he's obviously doing exactly what dave asked for, very little of those insane chops are on display.

had his career not been cut so short i think he would have ended up a household name just jimi hendrix, or van halen.
