Favorite Hot Sauce.... GO!

I found a couple new prospects.
Bringing it to you realtime from the supermarket. Wife asked what I was doing, I said: "Just taking a picture". She just said: "Ok you do your thing, I'm doing shopping". Gotta go find her now. She can't be that far, I have the cart. :D

I'm still enjoying this one, although it does taste a little chemically compared to the natural sauces I use. It's interesting to me that once you remove processed and enhanced foods from your daily intake how much they taste fake and chemically when you bring them back
It's like adding drops of fire to your food or mouth.

Lately I've been thinking about learning to cook properly. Mainly focusing on how to prepare vegetables properly and baked goods like waffles and cakes. I haven't even considered making sauces from scratch.

It is easier than I expected, and the taste is better with no chemical enhancers. Especially for spicy sauces.

I don't require lots of sauces on food I eat, matter of personal taste. Except maybe mayonaisse... that would be a cool idea: thick mayonaise (non-sweet) with different variations like with lemon or pepper or olives. I am belgian; mayonaise is a way of life for us.

Maybe for hot sauces bearnaise or stroganoff would be to my liking,

I'm at this point in my life as well. Fewer sauces and flavors is my preference. I'd like to taste the main dish first.
As for mayonnaise, I don't particularly care for it myself, but enjoy it on sandwiches.
Do you have Miracle Whip in Belgium? That is popular here as a replacement for mayo in come cases. I don't care for it myself.

NO!

That is a banned substance. Seriously I don't know what you guys are doing with mayonnaise in the US. I tried the mayo from Hellman and Heinz and find it awful. You should try some decent mayonnaise like we have here in Belgium. Can you get brands like Devos Lemmens (I am distantly related to the founders) or Vandemoortele? Those are the go to's.

I don't have a recipe at hand, but a friend of mine makes a real thick one. You really have to stab the lump of mayo with a fry. It's oily and non-sweet. The only sweetness comes from maybe some lemon juice if you choose to add it. Also up the mustard in the recipe for a bit more of a kick if you like, or not.

We take mayonnaise very seriously. Fries should go with mayonnaise, we invented fries so we would know. On another note you should learn to make fries the belgian way. And also search for steppegras.
I'm not that patriotic or chauvinistic, but on this topic I am. ;)

There is also sweet mayonnaise, or friet-saus and that is more akin to American mayo, but that is Dutch, we blame the dutch for that.

There are a few markets in the Seattle area that specialize in grocery items from Europe. Next time we visit, I will look for this mayo. Thank you for the recommendation.
I'll check out the fries. I try to avoid potatoes because of the starch, but now and then is OK. As for making them, I've never had French fries better than McDonalds, so when I crave them, I just go there.

I don't like potatoes much actually, except some good fries. Yup, starch and carbs I don't want. I cut down on potatoes, pasta and bread since december and already lost a lot of weight. (Also stopped drinking alcohol, but that's a story for another day.) Started eating healthier and started running again. Went from a beer belly to almost showing abs.

I also like mcdonalds on occassion. It's a very different kind of fries but I love it because they serve them very salty. Also I like the selection of burgers. Each country's mcdonalds has their own way of preparing the food tailored to the taste of the residents. I can attest mcdonalds in belgium tastes different to the ones in france, germany and UK, and I can imagine US is also different.

The Belgian McBurgers looks every bit as horrible as the American Versions.

That is a great story my friend. Congratulations on your healthy choices.
I started doing the same thing one month ago. I wasn't doing it for weight loss, but wow the pounds melt away so easily.
The biggest reward for me so far is the mental clarity and lack of sluggishness I dealt with. Like a fog over my brain all the time. I learned that for me, it was sugar causing that, and carbs. No more sugar for me of any kind, and carbs are very limited and chosen carefully. I still enjoy life and eating, but just so much more aware now of what I am putting into my body.
With how great I feel mentally, I can't give this up and go back to making unhealthy choices.
**PSA** the description of healthy choices above apply to my experience. I am not suggesting the key to a healthy lifestyle is making the same choices I have. Please consult a physician before making any dietary changes. :)
