I own a SR505 bought in the mid 90's (no longer made). A great playing and recording bass. Other than trying to slap on her (thin neck), it's a great bass. I'm seriously thinking of buying an upscale BTB 5-er! Wide neck, yeah! Exotic woods, yeah! Monorail bridge and locking jack, yeah!
I think the original SR505 evolved into the SR885 as my bass is exactly the same!!

I just got an srx700 and at the moment im not liking it much, but i still have to get it set up properly, so i might feel different then.

I love the SR series! Why?
Because the lower numbers of the series are great cheap beginners basses and when you go up , say from 700 and up, you will have great mid level basses.
First bass I bought was the SR 700 and I still love it!

I'd love to get my dirty little hands on a Musician, but I also like my 1990 Soundgear 1000E w/ the Gotoh bridge and the semi-parametric EQ.

A long while back, AMS was selling BTB 510s on closeout for $400-$500... geez, maybe i shoulda gotten one?!?!?!?!
I had an SR-885...sold it cuz it wasn't giving me what I needed.
If I ever wanted an Ibanez again...I think I'd go for an EDA905 (maybe a custom EDA906
) or an ATK. That's it.

) or an ATK. That's it.Dudebus, Eda900 freakin rocks. It's a little toy. it's kinda heavy, but it's small, and I've had trouble finding a case. I tried the 700 once, and was unimpressed. It wasn't as substantial, and had a thicker neck. Btb is cool, but only in 4 string, ATKs are freakin sweet, but i haven't seen one in a couple of months....... Oh, and I haven't had any Gas smell problems.
I just played this same exact bass at a local store and absolutely loved it, The best Ibanez that I ever played.
Killer tone great feel to the neck. Realy nice sounding pups.

I just got my EDA905F (fretless) The first one was damaged; they just delivered the replacement on Monday.
All I want to say to anyone that isn't that impressed with Ibanez is: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS BASS!
This one is a player! I'll write a review, probably next week. I'm still getting used to the different tones you can coax from this baby.
