It's not a "wooden EDA"
It's an Ibanez AFR. It was Ibanez's high end model in the early 90s.
I used to own one.
Then went for about 2000 in Europe. I don't know about american prices.
They had a single magnetic pickup and piezos.
Ibanez re-used the design to make the EDA.
Luthite has no reason to break.
You don't need to use "butt" in every sentence you post.

I know how odd this must sound, but the best ibanez that i have ever played is the one i have now. I know you guys will all think "Wow, he's a newbie to the bass world and doesn't know what he's talking about! i bet a squier to him is like a '57 P-bass to me" but the best one i've played is the Ibanez GSR-200tr. i know its like a cheap bass, but it looks awesome. It has a cool see thru red finish, and you can see the wood grain. It sounds awesome. The pickups are very hot and punchy. i use an SVT-3 pro thru a hartke 4x10 XL and it sounds just like a MM stingray. It plays amazing. It has an extremely thin neck and the best action i've ever seen on a bass. now after i bought mine i was at GC, and i was playing some of them, and they just didn't seem right to me. but hey, no two basses are alike. this one just fits me perfectly. absoulutely one of the best basses i've ever played (cep't for a 62 P-bass. oh my god.)

I had to vote SR, as in a few days my Ibanez SR495 should come in, I deffinately can't wait. It'll be the first bass I own. I dunno, I know about Ibanez's bad rep, I even owned one of their guitars a while back and hated it like you wouldn't believe... but I played one of these and it felt so good, not to mention how it looks. I'm going to try post a link to a pic I found that actually does it justice... looks good no? :D :D :DLink Removed

I vote BTB. It's my favorite bass I've ever played...ever. If I were to design my own custom bass, it'd be disturbingly similar to a BTB 5ver...Well, in the case of neck dimensions and balance, identical.

Although the best value of any bass comes from my SR300DX. For the $175 I paid for it (new!), nothing comes close.

i have the ibanez beginner bass (gsr 200) and am not too happy with it, but i played the new sr 490 series and fell in love with them. Eq was awesome and the bass was very lightweight and actually had a thick tone (unlike most soundgears). The six string sr 496 has been the only comfortable six string i have ever played on.

I never liked these basses. The balance on every single Ibanez I have played, including their Ergodynes, has felt off. They all sounded *okay*, but nothing special, certainly I favour then no more then Squires or cheaper Yamahas. Although, some of their Ergodynes, esspecially that one with the piezo bridge, have sounded pretty good (but that's merely an exception to the rule ;) )

I also have a BTB400QM, transparent black. I like the bridge, for its easy string changes and the fact I can rest my hand on it when I'm using a pick, unlike the crappy Fender bridge on my GSR200. The locking jack is a good idea, too. I picked my BTB up for £299, second hand. Best bargain I ever had. Awesome sound, sexy looking thing. Love it to bits.
